Hillcrest Futures' Portman Street service, which provides emergency accommodation for men experiencing homelessness in Glasgow, recently hosted its first barber session, and it was a huge success thanks to support from the Hillcrest Foundation.

Alongside free haircuts, people were welcomed with breakfast rolls, tea and coffee, creating a relaxed space to chat and connect. The impact was clear, with many leaving feeling more confident, uplifted and like themselves again.

With plans to run sessions every few weeks, this simple idea is already making a meaningful difference to the people we support. 💙

The Peer Support Workers will use their lived experience as a neurodivergent individual to support others experiencing challenges associated with neurodivergent conditions. They will be expected to share aspects of their personal journey, including coping strategies, tools, and techniques they have found helpful. This may also include where appropriate, supporting people to use screening tools if required.

Past Present Futures is located at 104 Gray Street, Broughty Ferry and is open Monday – Saturday from 10am to 4pm. All money raised in the shop goes to Hillcrest Futures to support vulnerable people to live full and vibrant lives.

Dickson Avenue brings community together for fundraising success

Hillcrest Futures' Dickson Avenue Housing with Care service in Dundee recently hosted a successful fundraising event, bringing tenants, families and staff together for a fun and relaxed afternoon.

Held on Saturday 23 May, the event featured a £1 pop-up clothes shop, as well as a cake stall, raffle and refreshments, creating a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Supported individuals were joined by family and friends, with lots of opportunities to connect and take part.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, an impressive £253 was raised. The funds will go towards a new TV and DVD player, supporting future social activities and entertainment within the service.

A great example of community spirit in action 💙
