Would you run your car into the ground? Ignoring the check engine light. 🛻

🚧That pain that you have is your body’s check engine light and it about time you got it sorted.
Work, Family, Life, Stress, Training, Long days, Early mornings, Carrying things, Sitting at desks, Running around after everyone else… it all adds up.

And often, we don’t do anything about it until something really hurts and that’s the problem.

Sports massage isn’t just for athletes, and it shouldn’t only be something you think about when your body is already screaming for help.

🙌 It can be an investment in keeping your body moving well, feeling lighter and functioning the way you want it to.

Because wouldn’t it be better to deal with a ni**le when it’s a ni**le… rather than ignoring it until it becomes a problem that takes months, or even years, to properly sort out?

Looking after your body can mean:
✨ Moving more freely
✨ Feeling less restricted and weighed down
✨ Staying relatively pain-free
✨ Keeping active without constantly fighting your body
✨ Having more energy for work, family and the things you actually enjoy

And perhaps most importantly, it’s about not waiting until you’re completely burnt out before you decide your body deserves some attention.

You don’t have to be broken to benefit from looking after yourself.

Get in sooner. Keep moving. Keep doing the things you love.

Your future self will probably thank you for it. 💪

Instead of treating pain after it appears, regular sports massages help prevent the built up of tension in the first place.

Block booking encourages consistency, think of it as maintaining your body as you would a car, small, regular maintenance helps avoid bigger problems later.

With ongoing treatment, clients often experience:

✨Longer-lasting relief from pain and stiffness
✨Improved movement between appointments
✨Faster recovery from daily work demands
✨Better posture habits over time
✨Fewer flare-ups of chronic aches and pains
✨Greater productivity and focus at work

1
STRETCH YOUR QUADS
patella tendon which, over time it can increase irritation and pain. Stretching your quads is an easy way to
knee pressure and reduce pain during running.
2
INVEST TIME IN YOUR WARMUPS
Overlooked and underrated, this important component to your training programme is an easy way to increase blood flow, improve brain to muscle connections, and increase your overall running efficiency. Ignoring a 5 minute warmup can leave you muscle “cold” and cause stress in the knees.
3
STRENGTHEN YOUR CALVES
There is an important connection between strong calves and running pain free. Strong calves not only reduces your run times but takes pressure off your kneecap and tendons. Performing heel/calf raises and toe walks is an easy way to built strength in the calves.
4
ADJUSTING YOUR RUNNING PROGRAMME
Reducing your weekly milage or changing your running methods such as a run/walk instead of the constant pace can help your pain subside, keep irritation down and reduce recovery time.
5
MOBILISE YOUR HIPS
Hips are most likely the main culprit to lower limb injuries. Focus on improving flexibility in your glutes, adductors and hip flexor group muscles. Stretching these groups off, will set you up for an easier run, allowing your hips to be utilised and reducing stress from your knees. The Pidgeon pose is a great hip opener and stretches the glutes too!
6
ANALISE YOUR MOVEMENT WITH AN EXPERT
Not all knee pain is the same. To ensure complete recovery and return you to doing what you love, find a specialist who can test your range of movement, strength tests and create a bespoke treatment plan to help you and your needs. Regular sports massage treatments can keep you running at your best.

Elbow pain at work? It might not be what you think… 🤔

When people hear Tennis Elbow or Golfer’s Elbow, they often think of sports 🏌️‍♂️🎾
But these conditions are very common in everyday workers—from office staff 💻 to tradespeople 🔧 and hairdressers ✂️

What’s the difference?

👉 Tennis elbow → pain on the outside of the elbow
👉 Golfer’s elbow → pain on the inside of the elbow

Both are caused by repetitive strain on the forearm muscles and tendons—something many jobs involve daily.

Common work-related causes 👇
• Repetitive typing or mouse use
• Lifting, carrying, or gripping tools
• Using vibrating equipment
• Poor workstation setup
• Not enough breaks or recovery time

Typical symptoms ⚠️
• Aching or sharp pain around the elbow
• Reduced grip strength
• Stiffness in the forearm
• Pain when lifting, twisting, or even holding a mug ☕

How sports massage can help 💆‍♂️

✔️ Relieves built-up tension
Tight forearm muscles pull on the elbow—massage helps release that tension and ease pain.

✔️ Promotes healing
Improved blood flow brings oxygen and nutrients to the area to support recovery.

✔️ Restores movement
Helps improve flexibility and reduce stiffness so everyday tasks feel easier.

✔️ Breaks down scar tissue
Targets adhesions caused by repetitive strain and restores normal movement.

✔️ Helps prevent it coming back
Regular treatment can catch issues early before they become long-term problems.

The bottom line 👇
If your job involves repetitive arm use, don’t ignore elbow pain.

Sports massage can help reduce pain, restore movement, and keep you working comfortably 💪

💥Does sports massage hurt & why? 😵

Tight muscles hurt due to a combo of restricted blood flow, nerve irritation, and the body’s compensations for imbalance.

Muscles that are tight are in a contracted state. Being in this state for a prolonged time, causes the muscle fibres to contract and press on the blood vessels. Low blood flow slows oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and preventing the removal of waste products which can lead to pain and discomfort.

Muscle overuse and fatigue can cause tight, painful sensations. Holding a muscle or group of muscles in a contracted state due to stress, sport or repetitive movements can cause it/them to become fatigued and painful!

Deep tissue massage that targets deeper muscles and their connective tissue can cause discomfort. Movements such as friction massage is not comfortable but is great to break up adhesions, realign scar tissue, promote healing, flexibility and tissue elasticity.

When breaking up adhesions in the tissue and ironing out muscle knots, there can be discomfort due to the bunching up of nerves and nerve irritation. But releasing the tension will release the pressure off the nerve’s receptors.

As a sports massage therapist, we promote healing, reduce muscle tension, lengthen shortened muscles, and improve performance. Temporary discomfort can be beneficial in the long run.

Personally, I do not agree with “no pain, no gain” when it comes to the effectiveness of a sports massage. I work with muscles to bring them to their healthiest form, not traumatise them any more they already are. I look for restrictions in movement caused by short muscles. Lengthening these short muscles and releasing the tension will help in decreasing the pain.

Some parts of the massage can be painful, but I can also ease off the pressure and still give an effective massage.

How often should you get a sports massage? 🤔💆‍♂️💆‍♀️

Whether you’re on your feet all day, stuck at a desk, or training hard in the gym, your body works harder than you think!

💼 For busy workers (desk-based or manual jobs):
If you’re dealing with tight shoulders, lower back ache, or repetitive strain, a sports massage every 1–4 weeks can help keep tension under control and prevent small ni**les turning into bigger problems.

🏋️ For active people & gym-goers:
Training regularly? Lifting, running, cycling or playing sports? A massage every 2–4 weeks can support recovery, improve flexibility, and keep you performing at your best.

🏃‍♂️ In intense training periods or event prep:
You might benefit from weekly or fortnightly sessions to stay on top of muscle tightness and reduce injury risk.

💪Injury rehab or specific tight/problem areas:
Weekly sessions initially may be recommended, then taper to monthly once symptoms improve.

✨ Remember:
Sports massage isn’t just for athletes. It’s for anyone who wants to move better, feel better, and prevent pain — not just treat it.

Listen to your body 👂 If you’re constantly tight, sore, or fatigued, it’s probably time to book in.

Your body is your most important tool — look after it! 🔧💙
