We are getting everything ready for welcome lots of amazing young adults leaving school this year, and we can't wait to open our doors.

And with this exciting new chapter comes one big announcement.... WE ARE RECRUITING! 🎊

We are looking for a creative and confident leader to join our day opportunities leadership team.

This role will involve planning, organising and delivering engaging, inclusive indoor and outdoor activities for adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Are you the right person?

You will work to promote independence, wellbeing, social inclusion and skill development while ensuring a safe, supportive, person centred and fun environment across multiple Day Opportunities settings.

37.5 hours per week

Thank you to everyone who supported us at the Opening Ceremony to Learning Disability Week 2026!

We had a fabulous morning and are keeping our 80s theme going all week!

Our next event on Thursday is Walk This Way!

We'd love our community to join us at the Wakefield Community Learning Disability Team event at Thornes Park... followed by an 80s themed walk back to our base at Clarke Hall.

You can join us for all of the walk or alternatively see us at the refreshment points!

Learning Disability Week: 15th - 21st June 2026. 💙

Alternative Care are really proud to be hosting 4 events in our local community next week so that we can celebrate ourselves and each other! 🫂

Monday 15th: Alternative Entertainment will be performing at the opening ceremony at Wakefield Cathedral. 🎶

Thursday 18th: We will be joining Wakefield Community Learning Disability Team at Thornes Park, followed by an 80s themed walk back up to our day opps. 💪

Thursday 18th: Alternative Social will have an 80s spin on things with a local live performer! 🎤

Friday 19th: Alternative Entertainment will close our week of celebrations with our very own awards ceremony. 🏆
