Today we visited MediCinema at the RVI Newcastle to watch Toy Story 5, and it was honestly such a gorgeous experience for Aoife and all of us and a perfect little break from the ward. 💛

The staff were absolutely amazing, so kind, patient, and genuinely thoughtful. Aoife was super comfy in her P-Pod, and we were given lovely comfy chairs so we could sit right beside her and enjoy the movie together. It felt like a proper family trip to the cinema, without any of the barriers that usually make outings difficult.

At the end, Aoife was gifted a Toy Story poster and stickers, which completely made her day. Her smile said everything.

🎬 What is MediCinema?

MediCinema is a UK charity that builds and runs fully equipped cinemas inside hospitals and health facilities. Their goal is simple but powerful:
to bring the magic of movies to people who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a cinema trip due to illness, disability, or long-term hospital stays.

A few things that make MediCinema special:

• Accessible spaces — designed for wheelchairs, beds, medical equipment, and specialist seating.
• Clinical support — screenings are staffed so patients with complex needs can attend safely.
• Free screenings — families and patients don’t pay; it’s all funded through charitable support.
• A sense of normality — they create moments of joy, distraction, and togetherness during really tough times.

It’s honestly such a gift to families like ours, and we’re so grateful for the experience today.
