Give yourself permission to ask for help when you need it.

It might be asking for help around the house, support at work or just a listening ear.

Because you don’t have to do this on your own.

Specialist support is also available if you need. Just pop me a message if you would like a quick telephone call.

Post traumatic stress is not only psychological, it reflects a prolonged physiological stress response within the body.

This chronic stress response can cause

🌟sleep disruption

🌟hormonal dysregulation

🌟increased inflammation

🌟and wider impacts on physical health.

This month is stress awareness month, and it’s important to be talking about the physical as well as emotional signs of stress, especially after experiencing miscarriage and highlights the need for more compassionate and trauma informed support.

I work with many women who have been diagnosed with PTSD after experiencing miscarriage. Feel free to pop me a message for further information and availability.

Miscarriage is far more common than many people realise - yet it’s something so many women experience in silence.

According to in the UK, around 10–20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, and while this loss can feel devastating and isolating, research also shows that more than 85% of women who experience miscarriage go on to have a successful pregnancy afterwards.

Statistics can never take away the pain of loss, but they can sometimes offer a small sense of hope for the future.

If you have experienced miscarriage, please remember you don’t have to go through it alone.

Mother’s Day can be one of the hardest days of the year for bereaved parents.

For many, the day can bring a mix of love, grief, memories, and longing.

While others celebrate, you may be navigating a whole heap of emotions and that is completely understandable.

My blog includes some key pointers to help you navigate Mother’s Day without your baby amongst all the marketing campaigns and unwanted reminders.

I hope it helps you.

An anxious mind can feel like it’s working against you but it doesn’t have to control your life.

The ‘Your Anxious Mind’ blog explores why anxiety happens, how your brain is trying to protect you, and practical ways to work with your thoughts instead of against them.

Want to feel more in control of your anxiety? Read the full blog here: https://www.lifecarecounselling.com/2023/01/07/your-anxious-mind/

Or if anxiety is affecting your daily life, you can book a private counselling session with me to take the first step toward feeling calmer and supported. I offer a free 15 minute telephone call first to discuss how we can work together.

You don’t have to struggle on alone.

Because baby loss doesn’t end when the appointment does.

Because grief doesn’t follow a timeline.

When health professionals are supported with the right training and understanding, families are met with compassion, confidence, and care at every stage.

Talking openly about loss isn’t uncomfortable - it’s necessary.

And change begins with conversation.

If you’re a professional supporting families after loss - education and reflection can make a real difference.

The fully funded PROP (Professional Reflective Occupational Practice) sessions through support health professionals in Kent and surrounding areas. Please get in touch for more information.

This Children’s Mental Health Week, I wanted to shine a light on surviving siblings after baby loss.

Children often experience grief differently. It might show up as:

-Changes in behaviour

-Big emotions or withdrawal

-Anxiety, questions, or regression

-Trying to protect their parents by staying quiet

When you’re grieving yourself after baby loss, it can feel hugely overwhelming when also parenting surviving children.

Counselling can help parents:

- Understand how children express grief at different ages

-Learn how to talk about loss in age appropriate ways

-Support your mental health and wellbeing so that you can hold space for your children

-Allow for healing as a family

It’s ok not to have all of the answers but support is here for you so you can give the best possible support for your children.
