🎥 I recently came across a video from my very first British Adult Gymnastics Championships in 2016. I was 45 then 😍

Tomorrow, almost 10 years later, I'll be stepping onto the competition floor again.

Watching that video brought back so many memories. Back then, I was just grateful to be there. I never imagined that a decade later I'd still be competing, still challenging myself, and still loving this sport.

The routines may have changed, the body certainly feels a little different, and there have been injuries, setbacks, and plenty of life in between. But the passion for gymnastics remains exactly the same.

One of the things I love most about adult gymnastics is that it reminds us that we're capable of so much more than we often give ourselves credit for. Goals don't have an age limit.

So here's a little throwback to 2016 as I get ready for the 2026 British Adult Gymnastics Championships tomorrow.

Wish me luck! 🍀🤸♀️

🎙️ Far 2 Fabulous — Episode 123 is LIVE!

Why You Feel Hungry All The Time...

In last week's episode on the Far 2 Fabulous podcast, we talk about the most common causes of constant hunger: metabolism types, blood sugar dips, and what happens when you do a lot but don’t fuel to match the demand.

Then we look at sleep debt and sugar cravings, alcohol and the next-day ravenous feeling, perimenopause appetite shifts, stress and cortisol, medication side effects, and even gut microbiome imbalances like Candida that can drive intense sugar cravings.

✨ A pinch-me moment! ✨

I was recently interviewed by British Gymnastics ahead of the Adult British Championships, and I'm honestly blown away to learn that my journey is inspiring other women to step outside their comfort zones.

If you'd told 10 year old me that I'd be competing in gymnastics in my 50s, winning national medals, and being featured by British Gymnastics, I would never have believed you.

As a nutritionist, I'm passionate about helping women understand that getting older doesn't mean becoming weaker, slower, or less capable. Our bodies are incredibly resilient when we nourish them well, move them regularly, and stop listening to the outdated messages about what women "should" be doing after 50.

Whether your goal is to run a 5K, lift weights, improve your health, or even return to a sport you loved as a child, age is not the barrier many people think it is.

Thank you to British Gymnastics for sharing my story. And thank you to everyone who follows my journey, supports my business, and reminds me that it's never too late to chase big goals.

Here's to breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and showing what's possible at every age. 💪🤸‍♀️❤️

It is just over a week until the Adult Gymnastics British Championships!! 🤸

We caught up with Julie Clark Nutrition, one of 26 women over 50, that will be competing at Lilleshall this year.

She discussed the barriers she has overcome to continue to participate and excel in the sport she loves!

If you ever struggle on the weekends, this one is for you! 🙋

Monday through Friday? You’re good.

But then Friday night rolls around, it's like someone flips a switch.

By Sunday night, you feel bloated, tired, achy, and mad at yourself… and feeling like it’s time for yet another Monday when you’re “starting over again.”

Here’s what might be causing it:

1. You might be way too strict during the week.

2. You have zero structure on weekends. (Most common reason!)

On weekends, we don’t usually have a schedule. Meal times are different, your bedtime is different, your activities are different. Without a structure, it can be harder to follow through on your healthy habits.

Here’s what I do:
I add more flexibility during the week, and then I have a plan for the weekend to give myself a little structure (nothing crazy, just a plan for my meals, exercise, and sleep).

It’s a relief to have your weekdays and weekends connected with some consistency… and it’s an even BIGGER relief not to feel like every Monday is a new start date.

"Why do I always do this to myself?"

I can't tell you how many times I've heard this from clients, and (if I’m being honest), from myself back in the day!

You're doing great: eating well, feeling good, workouts are consistent.

Then out of nowhere, you go off the rails… like you’re in self-destruct mode.

Here's what I've learned: it's usually not self-sabotage.

It's probably one of these three things:

😬 1. You're white-knuckling it.
If you've been "being good" and following a bunch of rigid rules, your brain will eventually hit a wall. It’s because what you were doing was unsustainable over the long term.

2. You start thinking you've "earned it."
Then one thing turns into a three-day free-for-all.

3. You're scared of what happens if it works.
Change makes you feel vulnerable. So your brain hits the eject button before you get too far.

What helps?

Being aware of your patterns and building in some flexibility from the start.

If you can only follow your healthy habits when everything in your life is going perfectly, it's not a workable plan.

And if you notice the "I've earned it" talk starting up in your head, that's your cue to check in with yourself and revisit your long-term priorities.

💬 Have you ever felt this?

☀️ HOT WEATHER + TRAINING = DON’T FORGET ELECTROLYTES

With the UK heat right now, we’re not just losing water when we sweat… we’re losing important minerals too.

Electrolytes such as sodium, potassium and magnesium are essential for:
✔️ Hydration
✔️ Energy production
✔️ Muscle function & recovery
✔️ Nervous system support
✔️ Preventing headaches, cramps & fatigue

This is something I often see on HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) testing — electrolyte minerals can be depleted through stress, sweating, exercise, poor diet, illness, caffeine, alcohol and even chronic burnout.

Drinking plain water alone isn’t always enough, especially if you’re training, spending time in the heat or feeling exhausted.

Today during training, I added electrolytes to my water to help replenish minerals and support recovery 💧

Two I personally like:
• Heights Electrolytes
• Viridian Electrolyte Fix

Small habits like this can make a huge difference to energy, hydration and how you feel overall.

Your body doesn’t just need water… it needs minerals too ✨

Scientists have identified more than 50 hormones in your body…

They’re the "multitaskers" behind your focus, your hunger, and even how well you recover from your workouts.

When your hormones are optimised, everything gets easier…

But when they aren’t…

You’re left dealing with constant cravings, restless nights, and that stubborn belly fat that won't seem to budge.

That’s why I made this quick healthy hormone cheat-sheet just for women over 40.

Inside you’ll find:
✅Cortisol: How to calm the "stress hormone" in 2 minutes.
✅Ghrelin & Leptin: The secret to regulating hunger and ending overeating.
✅Actionable Tips: Real-life strategies like light exposure and protein pairing

There are **26 women over 50** competing at the British Adult Gymnastics Championships this June…

…and I get to stand alongside some of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met 💛

Women who continue to show up.
Women who challenge themselves.
Women who refuse to let age define what they can and cannot do.

And honestly?
These ladies deserve celebrating.

Because this isn’t just about gymnastics.

It’s about courage.
Confidence.
Resilience.
Joy.
And proving to ourselves that our bodies are still capable of amazing things at every stage of life.

Many of us are balancing careers, families, menopause, injuries, recovery, busy lives and all the things that come with getting older…

…and yet here we are.

Training.
Competing.
Supporting one another.
And doing it anyway ✨

No, we’re not trying to be 20 again.

We’re women in our 50s and beyond who have learned to appreciate our bodies for what they CAN do — not criticise them for what they can’t.

And I think that’s incredibly powerful.

So this post is really to celebrate every woman stepping onto that competition floor in June.

You are inspiring more people than you realise 💛

And to anyone reading this who thinks they’re “too old” to start something new…

You’re not.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is begin anyway.
