On Friday 19th June, our practice team will be taking part in Day to show our support for the vital research taking place within our practice and across the NHS.

Research plays a crucial role in improving patient care, developing new treatments and shaping the future of healthcare. We are incredibly proud of our Research Team and the important work they do to bring research opportunities to our patients.

None of this would be possible without the support of patients who choose to take part in research studies. By participating, they help us advance medical knowledge and improve healthcare for future generations. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this valuable work.

We Did It! 🎉

Our charity walk is now complete, and we're delighted to share that the weather was kind to us, everyone had a wonderful time and thanks to all the incredible support, we exceeded our fundraising target!

We walked together in support of three amazing causes that are close to the hearts of our colleagues and to all of us at the practice:

📢 Notice – Windrush Medical Practice will be closed this afternoon Thursday 4th June 2026 from 1:00pm to 6:30pm for mandatory staff training.

ℹ Why are we closing?

All GP practices across Oxfordshire take part in essential training sessions throughout the year to ensure we continue to provide safe, high-quality care. These sessions don’t all fall on the same day for every practice.

Appointments at the Windrush Health Centre will still continue
as planned. Only the Medical Practice department will be closed.

📢 COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Our final COVID-19 clinic for this vaccination campaign will take place on Monday 8th June.

All eligible patients have now received two invitations, and our housebound patients and care homes will also be completed by this date.

After 8th June, we will no longer be offering COVID-19 vaccinations at the practice. Patients who still need to book, change or cancel an appointment can do so via the NHS national booking service:

⚠️ Important Update: Issues with the NHS App Booking System

The NHS App are currently experiencing ongoing issues with the appointment booking system, which has been affecting access for approximately the last 6 weeks.

Blood test appointments - The option to book blood tests via the NHS App is currently unavailable.

Patients wishing to book a blood test should instead:

📞 Call the practice on Option 8, then Option 1, or
🏥 Attend the surgery reception in person.

NHS Health Check bookings - Please note that the NHS Health Check booking option is still appearing as active on the app. However, this is currently not available for blood test appointments, and we are seeing continued incorrect bookings through this route.

NHS App are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and will provide updates when the situation changes.

We’re incredibly proud of two of our colleagues Dr Nicholas Thomas and Autumn who recently took on the London Marathon and absolutely smashed it! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Their dedication and determination were inspiring, and we’re now gearing up to continue supporting their fundraising efforts.

In just 8 days, our team will be taking on a sponsored walk to help raise funds for three amazing charities chosen by them:

✨ Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK
✨ Penny Brohn UK

We’re also cheering on Jacqui, who will be taking part in The MoonWalk on Saturday 16th May, another fantastic challenge.
