SCAM AWARENESS EVENT – KNOW THE RISKS! 🚨

Did you know that scams can affect more than just your finances? Being caught up in a scam can also have a serious impact on your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

How can your local medical practice help?

Your local medical practice has arranged an informative talk with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) Trading Standards to raise awareness of scams, the hidden dangers they can pose to your health and wellbeing health if you are caught up in such illegal practices and how to protect yourself. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

📅 When: Friday 23rd October 2026
📍 Where: Witney Library Meeting Room, Welch Way, Witney, OX28 6JH

Two sessions available: 10:00am–11:00am and 11:00am–12:00pm

FLU & COVID-19 VACCINATIONS 2026

Our autumn vaccination programme is now underway, helping protect our patients ahead of the winter months.

Our October vaccination clinics are now fully booked. We are currently booking appointments from November onwards for eligible patients.

Who is eligible?

🧒 Children who are eligible for the nasal flu vaccination
🤰 Pregnant women
👵 Adults aged 65 and over
🩺 People who are in an eligible clinical risk group
👩‍⚕️ Carers who receive a carer's allowance or are the main carer for an older or disabled person

If you are eligible please wait for your invitation before contacting the practice. We will invite you to book when it is your turn.

📢 Notice – Windrush Medical Practice will be closed this afternoon Thursday 10th September 2026 from 1:00pm to 6:30pm for mandatory staff training.

ℹ Why are we closing?
All GP practices across Oxfordshire take part in essential training sessions throughout the year to ensure we continue to provide safe, high quality care. These sessions don’t all fall on the same day for every practice.

Appointments at the Windrush Health Centre will still continue
as planned. Only the MEDICAL PRACTICE department will be closed.

Could you be eligible to collect your medication from our Dispensary?

Some patients living within our practice area may be eligible to collect their prescribed medication directly from Windrush Medical Practice, rather than from a community pharmacy.

You may be eligible if you:

📍 Live more than one mile from your nearest community pharmacy
📍 Live within our practice boundary

Our Dispensary can be a convenient option, allowing eligible patients to collect their medication from the same place as their GP appointments.

This may be particularly useful for patients living in areas such as:

Aston • Bampton • Brize Norton • Ducklington • Minster Lovell • South Leigh • Stanton Harcourt • North Leigh • Hailey

A huge thank you to everyone involved in preparing and organising the PPG CPR session this morning.

The session was a great success, with 16 attendees fully engaged throughout Dick Tracey’s informative and enlightening presentation. Everyone felt they had learnt a great deal and took away valuable knowledge from the session.

Our Autumn vaccination campaign will be starting soon, and we're looking forward to helping protect our patients ahead of the winter season.

Our planned schedule is:

💉 From September 2026 – Nasal flu vaccinations for eligible children.
🤰 From October 2026 – Flu vaccinations for pregnant women.
💉 From October 2026 – Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations for all other eligible patients in line with the national programme.
