JSP is Europe's leading independent manufacturer of "above the neck" Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and acknowledged leader in industrial head protection. JSP's mission is to develop quality, innovative safety products that help improve occupational safety and health worldwide. By developing products that exceed latest performance requirements whilst also improving comfort and wearer acceptan

ce, JSP enables an estimated 40 million people worldwide to protect themselves daily in their lives and workplaces. Established in 1964 with its headquarters in Oxford, England, JSP manufactures on three continents currently exporting to over 90 countries. The UK remains a core manufacturing centre where the latest lean and automated techniques are utilised. Research and development is also based in Oxford where the highest levels of investment are maintained to continue a pipeline of proprietary innovation with annual targets. Every JSP product is manufactured to conform to appropriate European, US and International performance specifications with testing carried out in our extensive BS EN IS09002 registered test laboratories. Our technical helpline and website provide a wealth of experience and information to help end users choose how to protect themselves against different applications. The new patented Filterspec which has won the 2011 Frost and Sullivan North America Product Innovation Award is such a case. Not only was it logical to integrate eye and respiratory protection into one harmonised unit, but also to enable protection in extreme environments. At -40 degrees Celsius, moisture emitting onto eyewear freezes immediately so a solution to eliminate mask leakage was needed. Filterspec’s integrated approach also enables a much improved face fit. This assists companies that must face fit test their employees with respiratory protective equipment as required now by the Health and Safety Executive.

Because two PPE products fit together, does that mean they work together?

Modern PPE is rarely worn in isolation. Safety helmets, eye protection, hearing protection and respiratory protection often need to function as a complete system.

Compatibility isn't just about whether products can physically connect. It's about ensuring they continue to deliver the intended level of protection, comfort and usability when worn together.

That's why JSP tests and certifies PPE (such as safety helmets, face shields, and ear defenders) in combination rather than as standalone items. This ensures that when products are worn together, they maintain their required safety standards and attenuation levels.

EN 397:2025 is now harmonised.

Join our upcoming JSP Safety Cast webinar on 29 July at 10 am (BST), where we will break down the latest updates to industrial and electrical safety helmet standards.

With changes to EN 397:2025 and EN 50365:2023, there is now greater clarity around classification, performance and compatibility, all of which have a direct impact on PPE selection and compliance.

This session will provide an overview of:
• An in-depth look at the newly introduced, defined helmet “Types”.
• How the new standard tests how helmets function seamlessly alongside other PPE.
• Understanding the safety criteria and testing updates.

The new EN 397:2025 standard has now been harmonised, introducing a major shift in how safety helmets are classified.

For the first time, helmets are divided into two distinct types, reflecting different real world hazards:

Type 1 helmets
Designed to protect against impacts to the top of the head (crown), with requirements similar to the previous EN 397:2012 standard.

Type 2 helmets
Designed to protect against both crown and off crown impacts, including the side, front and rear, reflecting a broader range of risks seen on site.

With evolving working environments and increased awareness of off centre impacts, understanding this distinction is becoming increasingly important for correct PPE selection.

The JETSTREAM® STRATUS™ has been recognised as the winner of the BSIF Product Innovation Award (PPE Category) at the SHE Awards 2026.

A result that reflects the work behind the product, from concept through to real‑world performance. Designed to deliver TH3 level protection with up to 99.98% filtration efficiency, while maintaining usability in demanding environments.

A great achievement for the team, and a product we’re proud to see recognised by the industry.
The JETSTREAM® STRATUS™ has the unique capability to hot-swap the twin batteries in the hazard zone while maintaining full airflow and thus user safety at all times.

This provides complete flexibility for the PAPR to work safely around the user’s actual schedule for charging and working, not the other way around.

A great example of why PPE matters.

Thanks to Gemma, Petite Renovation Uk for sharing this and highlighting the importance of getting the right protection in place, especially when working in environments where dust, particles and airborne hazards are present.

We were glad to support the project with PPE, and it’s good to see the equipment being put to practical use.
