I really enjoyed being a part of this event this morning.

Men’s mental health is a topic that needs its own support and recognition and it was really encouraging to see so many people attend and join in the conversation.

A huge thank you to Jim Bertram for sharing his personal story and for reminding us of the importance of not staying silent 💚

Is this rainy Monday morning hitting hard?

Here's a little challenge for today.

At some point during your day, take just one minute to try the square breathing exercise in the image below.

🌱 Breathe in for 4

⏸️ Hold for 4

🌱 Breathe out for 4

⏸️ Hold for 4

Repeat a few times and, if it feels comfortable for you, try breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Will this make your to-do list disappear? Probably not.

But it might give you a small pocket of calm before you dive back into the rest of your day.

If you give this a try today, let us know how you get on in the comments below 👇

Today, on Brightside Psychology’s 10th birthday, this gorgeous bouquet arrived from a client who had just completed therapy.

After years of struggling with health anxiety, this client came to Brightside Psychology and we’re really glad they did. Watching someone find their way out of that cycle and back into their life is the most rewarding part of our work.

10 years, 3 office moves, one pandemic, an ever-growing talented and compassionate clinical team and hundreds of clients helped. Today I’m feeling especially grateful 🫶🥰

At Brightside, we’ve been really lucky to have Lucy Richards join us on a work experience placement over the last couple of years. Lucy was fundamental in helping us to set up and run our Creative Grief Group. The group had such a positive impact on Lucy that she has chosen to study the subject of grief support for her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Liverpool University.

She’s now seeking participants to interview for her research. If you’ve experienced loss or bereavement and you’re willing to have a chat with Lucy, please do reach out. Its studies like this that really help to shape the services that we deliver.

Lucy, thank you for all of your hard work over the last couple of years and we’re looking forward to implementing the findings of your research into our clinical practice 🫶

You sponsor a hole instead!

do such incredible work in our local community supporting people with life limiting conditions and their families. When we were asked if we might be interested in sponsoring a hole we couldn’t say no! It felt like a safer way to get involved than actually attempting to play 😅

I hope that all involved had a fabulous day and congratulations to the winning team! ⛳️

This week is Dying Matters Awareness Week and we would like to acknowledge the people in our Codsall community who are:

- Caring for someone who is unwell
- Grieving the loss of a loved person or pet
- Navigating uncertainty about their own health
- Experiencing anticipatory grief - grieving a loss before it has happened.

We know that these experiences are far more common than most people realise.

If this topic feels relevant for you right now, we are holding you in mind this week 💛

Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026 will take place from the 4-10 May. This year's theme is 'Let’s talk about Death and Dying'.

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of meeting a range of business owners from across South Staffordshire to deliver a half day workshop - Psychological Skills for Business Owners: Working with the inner Critic.

Did you know that when we learn to recognise and respond differently to the inner critic in ourselves and in our team, this can lead to vast improvements in business growth, visibility, income and job satisfaction?

We’d like to say a huge thank you to South Staffordshire Council for funding and hosting this event, and to all participants for their openness and engagement.

If you were at the event, did any specific parts resonate with you?

If you’re interested in how Brightside Psychology might be able to support you and your team, you can book a no-obligation complimentary call with Dr Sophie Gwinnett via our website www.brightsidepsychology.com.
