Kenward Trust

Kenward Trust A charity founded in 1968, saving and transforming lives of people with alcohol and drug addiction

Kenward Trust is a registered charity with a Christian heritage and ethos that deals with drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and offender resettlement. We run residential, community and youth programmes across Kent and East Sussex. Last year we provided structured treatments for 721 people and support and brief interventions to countless others. We have grown over the last 42 years to deliver n

ationally recognised, effective and successful drug and alcohol recovery programmes for adults. We offer a pathway of care from informal advice sessions to three years residential support, with proven intensive residential recovery through to supported housing rehabilitation programmes. In the community we offer people the support of an alcohol detox service, local alcohol information and advice clinics and a variety of workshops to help people address issues around alcohol and drug misuse. Historically we have worked with young people in schools, youth groups and ‘on the streets’, including young people who are at risk of school exclusion or have made a first criminal offence – now under threat from statutory funding cuts.

What can volunteers achieve? Something truly lasting.

When Kenward Trust's original chapel fell into disrepair, long-standing volunteers Sandra Belton and Hazel Sinden were determined to create a new space for worship, reflection and spiritual support.

Through two years of fundraising, supported by generous donations, coffee mornings and community events, their vision became a reality. Volunteers also helped transform the chapel into the welcoming space it is today.

Now, the chapel provides a peaceful sanctuary for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors - a symbol of hope, faith and the power of community.

We're still reflecting on a wonderful Volunteers' Week celebration held at Kenward Trust last Thursday.

It was a fantastic opportunity for residents, staff and volunteers to come together and recognise the people who generously give their time to support our community. The day was filled with conversation, appreciation and a shared sense of connection.

Our volunteers play an important role in helping us create positive change and we are incredibly grateful for their dedication and kindness.

Thank you to every volunteer who helps make Kenward Trust a place of hope, recovery and opportunity.

We are deeply saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with everyone affected.

Tragedies like this are a stark reminder of the serious impact ketamine can have on young people, their families, and those around them. At Kenward Trust, we are increasingly seeing the challenges this brings, and how important it is that people can access support at the right time.

No one should have to reach crisis point before they can access help.

If you or someone you care about needs help or support with ketamine use, you can contact us confidentially at [email protected] or call 01622 812603.

Young ketamine addict told mum ‘I can’t do it anymore’ before dying in agony, inquest hears
Isabelle Sapherson-Moralee was just 22 when she died after years of drug abuse
A mother has described her harrowing fight to save her 22-year-old daughter from a fatal ketamine addiction.
Isabelle Sapherson-Moralee, known as Izzy, died in agony after her body succumbed to the effects of five years of Class B drug abuse, an inquest has heard.
Her mother, Ann Moralee, spent 18 months desperately seeking help for Ms Sapherson-Moralee, even warning health officials that her daughter’s life was in peril.

We were pleased to feature on BBC Radio Kent’s “Make a Difference” segment last week, highlighting the growing demand for our Kenward Trust Street Reach service.
