⚠️ Important notice: Letter circulating in the local area

We've had several patients get in touch about a letter currently being delivered locally by York Delivery Pharmacy, offering free NHS prescription deliveries. We wanted to reassure everyone and clear up some confusion:

❌ This letter is NOT from Helmsley Pharmacy
❌ This letter is NOT from the NHS
❌ It does NOT mean Helmsley Pharmacy is closing

York Delivery Pharmacy is a distance-selling pharmacy based in York. If you fill in and post back the enclosed form, this will switch your prescription nomination away from Helmsley Pharmacy to them. That's entirely your choice to make, but it does mean:

📍 Your prescriptions will no longer come to us automatically
📍 You won't be able to collect ANY of your medication from Helmsley Pharmacy unless you switch your nomination back

If you've already sent the form back and want to remain with us, or if you have any questions at all about this letter, please give us a call or pop in and speak to the team - we're always happy to help.

Not sure whether to call 111, visit us, or head to A&E? You're not alone - it's one of the most common questions we get. Here's a quick guide 👇

✅ Contact Helmsley Medical Centre first if:
→ You need a routine or urgent GP appointment
→ You have an ongoing health concern or need test results
→ You need a repeat prescription

📞 Call 111 if:
→ You need urgent medical advice but it's not life-threatening
→ You're not sure what to do and need guidance fast
→ Our surgery is closed and you can't wait

🚑 Call 999 or go to A&E if:
→ It's a life-threatening emergency (chest pain, difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms, serious injury)
→ Someone is unconscious or unresponsive

When in doubt, call 111 - they'll direct you to the right place. Saving A&E for emergencies helps everyone get seen faster.

‼️Pharmacy will return to normal opening hours from Monday 18th September. 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday‼️

Thank you for your understanding during the last couple of weeks while we have been supporting colleagues from Ampleforth Surgery.
Although the support will continue our team have put in an incredible effort to clear the backlog caused by the fire.

‼️ Pharmacy will continue to be closed between 12pm and 2pm from Monday 11th Sept to Friday 15th Sept ‼️

A Herculean effort in pharmacy this week form the whole team which is very much appreciated.

We are monitoring the situation constantly and will be back to normal opening hours as soon as possible.
