A closer look inside, for better care.

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital,Ridge is pleased to resume full endoscopy services following the procurement of a new state-of-the-art endoscopy machine, reaffirming its commitment to delivering quality specialist care.

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a thin, flexible tube fitted with a camera to examine the digestive tract. It plays a vital role in the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions such as stomach ulcers, persistent abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, and certain cancers.

With our new equipment, patients can once again access timely, accurate, and high-quality endoscopic services at Ridge Hospital, leading to earlier diagnosis, effective treatment, and improved health outcomes.

Your health matters. Early diagnosis saves lives.

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital Hosts Launch of Jacaranda Health's "Nurse Mary" Platform

The Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate, in collaboration with Jacaranda Health, officially launched the PROMPTS platform, popularly known as "Nurse Mary," at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. The initiative is designed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes by providing pregnant women and new mothers with timely, personalized health information and support through an interactive two-way SMS platform.

The launch brought together officials from the Ghana Health Service, representatives of Jacaranda Health, healthcare professionals, development partners, and other key stakeholders. Speakers at the event underscored the critical role of digital health innovations in bridging information gaps that contribute to maternal and newborn complications and mortality. Through the “Nurse Mary” platform, mothers receive health education, appointment reminders, and answers to their health concerns from trained Ghana Health Service nurses and midwives.

Chairing the event, the Head of Clinical Services at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Rev. Dr. Martin Owusu Boamah, encouraged pregnant women and new mothers to actively make use of the “Nurse Mary” platform. He noted that the service provides credible and timely health information that will support mothers throughout pregnancy and after childbirth, ultimately contributing to healthier outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
In his remarks, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Robert Amesiya, noted that the “Nurse Mary”platform complements existing maternal healthcare services by empowering women with accurate and reliable health information while encouraging timely healthcare, seeking throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period. He expressed confidence that integrating the platform into routine health service delivery would significantly enhance the quality of maternal and newborn care across the Greater Accra Region.

The launch marks another important milestone in the partnership between the Ghana Health Service and Jacaranda Health, reaffirming their shared commitment to leveraging digital technology to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Ghana.
