Pose of the Week: Wide-Legged Forward Fold
Prasarita Padottanasana
Some poses are less about doing more
and more about letting go.
You step your feet wide.
You fold forward.
You breathe.
And suddenly the back of the body gets a lot more attention.
A little tip:
Instead of worrying about how far down you go, focus on grounding through the feet and creating length in the spine first.
A soft bend in the knees is absolutely fine.
Less forcing the fold. More allowing space.
And if clasping the hands behind the back feels too intense? Keep the hands on the floor, on blocks, or simply let the arms hang.
The pose still works.
Fun fact:
Prasarita Padottanasana translates roughly as Wide-Legged Forward Stretch.
A very straightforward name for a pose that can feel surprisingly strong, calming, and humbling all at once.
A little question for this week:
Can you soften without collapsing?
See you on the mat. We’ll be grounding, folding, and giving the spine a little more room to breathe.
