Mary and Damien Byrne and the extended Lee and Byrne family wish to express their heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to all our relatives, friends, neighbours and the wider community who supported us during our recent bereavement following the peaceful passing of Danny Byrne at home on 26th May 2026. We are especially grateful to everyone who travelled to pay their respects at the Funeral Home and Funeral Mass.
Our sincere thanks to all who sent Mass cards, online condolences, messages of sympathy and who offered help and support in so many ways. We are deeply grateful to everyone who brought food, gifts and kindness to our family home during this difficult time. Your generosity and compassion will never be forgotten.
We will always appreciate the exceptional care, kindness and support shown to Danny and our family by the HSE Home Support and Family Carers, the staff of Cavan General Hospital, Cavan Monaghan Palliative Care, our local GPs and the staff of Darley Medical Centre, the team at Darley Health Centre, and our close family friends Bernie Costin, Angela McKeon, Patricia Lee and Laura Keappock.
To the local business owners and their staff who stood along our town's streets as Danny's funeral cortege passed, we are eternally grateful. Your mark of respect was deeply moving and greatly appreciated.
A heartfelt thank you to Fr. John Cooney P.P. and Fr. Gerry White, Sacred Heart Fathers, Tanagh, for celebrating Danny's beautiful Funeral Mass. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Church Choir and the Le Chéile Singers. The music and singing added such beauty and comfort to the ceremony and were something Danny would truly have loved and enjoyed.
We are profoundly grateful to the Bearer Party from the 27th Infantry Battalion, the Honour Guard provided by the O'Neill Branch, ONET Cavan, and the ex-servicemen from Cootehill who escorted the hearse on Danny's final journey. Our sincere thanks also to Danny's comrades, both retired and serving, who attended the funeral and offered their condolences. We also acknowledge with gratitude the 29th Battalion Association, Monaghan, for providing the flags and stands that adorned the Funeral Home during the reposing of Danny's remains.
We greatly appreciate the kindness, dignity and professionalism shown by Sheila and Niamh Mullen and Dominic Moore in carrying out Danny's funeral arrangements. Our sincere thanks also to Rory Halton for the preparation and care of Danny's final resting place, and to House of Flowers, Cootehill, for the beautiful floral arrangements.
Thank you to everyone who gathered at St. Michael's Church to welcome Danny's remains and accompany him on his final journey.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions in thanksgiving on Sunday, 9th August at 11.30am.
