How has infection prevention changed through the eyes of those working on the frontline? 🏥

From the shift towards digital auditing and real-time reporting to the lessons learned during COVID-19, infection prevention has evolved significantly over the years.
But progress hasn't been limited to technology. It's also changed how IPC is understood, with greater emphasis on shared responsibility, multidisciplinary collaboration and embedding infection prevention into everyday clinical practice.

For International Infection Prevention Week 2026, we invited healthcare professionals to reflect on one question:

Infection prevention involves far more than what happens on the ward.
Behind every IPC programme are countless activities that patients rarely see. Audits to conduct. Policies to update. Incidents to review. Actions to follow up.

For the Infection Prevention and Control team at City Health Care Partnership CIC, closing the loop on those actions used to mean emailing Word documents back and forth with services and manually checking whether plans were being carried out. 😕

Since moving to MEG, their team has been able to:

✅ Assign ownership of audit actions to the teams responsible for them
✅ Produce reports and visuals on audits and improvement plans in minutes
