Today was a big day for outdoor recreation in Waterford with the launch of the Waterford Outdoor Recreation Plan.

It's the first plan of its kind for Waterford and sets out a vision for the future of outdoor recreation across the city and county and will help guide the development, enhancement and promotion of our many natural assets and recreation spaces over the coming years.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation process and shared their ideas, experiences and ambitions. This Plan reflects the passion people have for enjoying and protecting our incredible outdoors.

⚠How to spot a rip current⚠

🌊A rip current is a strong, narrow flow of water moving away from the shore.

Rip currents can be dangerous because if a person gets caught in one, they can be pulled away from shore.

Rip currents can be difficult to spot.

Knowing how to spot a rip current can help you stay safe when open water swimming.

Look out for:
βœ…Gaps in breaking waves
βœ…Darker or smoother water
βœ…Debris moving away from shore
βœ…Rippled or choppy surface

What a fantastic day for our third Explore Waterford walk! πŸ‘
A huge congratulations to the 53 participants from seven disability services who joined us yesterday at the beautiful and fully accessible Anne Valley Walk in Dunhill.

Participants chose from three walking options of 20, 30, or 40 minutes, allowing everyone to take part at a pace that suited them. The walk was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and connect with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment. πŸŒ³πŸ’š

Following the walk, everyone enjoyed refreshments kindly provided by The Happy Grind. A special thank you to Edwina & Alan for catering for todays event. β˜•πŸͺ

Thank you to all participants, staff, volunteers, and disability services who made today such a success. We can't wait to see you all at the next walk on Tuesday 7th July in Crough Wood! 😊
