Summer Vibes at Cahercalla — Sunshine, Songs & Sweet Treats

What a brilliant burst of summer we’ve had at Cahercalla.
Over the past two days our residents and staff have been out soaking up the sunshine with dancing, singing, laughter and plenty of fun.

The biggest cheer of all went to the Shannon Ice‑Cream van, bringing cool treats and big smiles to everyone. A huge thank you to Shannon Ice‑Cream for adding that extra sparkle to our summer days — a lovely gesture for our wonderful residents and fantastic staff.

Here’s to more sunshine, more music and more moments that make Cahercalla feel like home.

Cahercalla Races – Week One and What a Start!

Two of our residents took part in the very first Cahercalla Races today — and what a brilliant success it was. This was their first time trying our homemade horse‑racing game, and they absolutely loved it. The laughter, the cheering, the competitive spirit… it was all there.

It’s moments like this that remind us how important it is to bring something different, fun, and joyful into the week. We’ll definitely be getting even more residents involved for next week’s race — the more the merrier.

Lovely to hear the place filled with laughter like this.

💛 A Week Full of Warm Moments at Cahercalla

We are very grateful for the wonderful support and kindness shown to our residents this week. From baking and crafts to music, games, reading, therapy dog visits, and quiet moments in our chapel, there has been a real sense of connection and joy throughout the house.

Thank you to everyone who helps make these moments possible — families, friends, volunteers, and our dedicated staff. Your support brings comfort, companionship, and colour to daily life here at Cahercalla.

Our residents had a fantastic morning taking part in our new Ferns Fitness exercise class. This class brings such positivity and encouragement, and the room was full of movement, laughter and great energy. These gentle sessions support mobility, confidence and overall wellbeing — and our residents absolutely love them.

We also want to acknowledge something important.
Activities like this are made possible through the fundraising we do and the generous sponsors who support Cahercalla. Their kindness directly funds wellbeing programmes that enhance daily life for our residents, helping them stay active, connected and thriving.

We’re delighted to launch our new Books on Wheels portable library for residents — bringing stories, magazines and favourite reads right to their door.

To keep our trolley stocked with fresh choices, we’re kindly asking for donations of books and magazines in good condition.
All genres welcome — fiction, non‑fiction, large‑print, puzzles, gardening, cookery, history, and light magazines are especially popular.

Every donation helps brighten a resident’s day and keeps our little library rolling.
📚 Donations can be dropped at Reception, Cahercalla Community Care during regular hours.
