A client recently said to me she felt like she had been carrying so much heaviness in her body. She was surprised at how lighter she felt within her body once she started speaking how she truly feels.
Not just in the therapy room, but with herself and within relationships.
In her own words, seeing her current patterns as an adult through the eyes of her younger self has been deeply healing. Having compassion for the part of herself that didnt feel safe to speak her truth. That part served to protect her.
Instead of trying to push that part away, I ask her to try give her younger self more compassion and understanding.
We are so quick to judge the parts of ourselves we dislike.
What if we accepted every part of us with love and compassion and integrate it.
Working with clients who are open to exploring themselves on a deeper level is an absolute privilege for me.
Being able to witness and hold space for everything that come into the room - The pain, words unspoken, sadness, grief, love, happiness, joy, anger, confusion, frustration and numbness. All of it.
The pain of not feeling seen, not being accepted for who you truly are. Having to stay silent to keep yourself safe.
Trauma that you carry on your shoulders because it doesn't feel safe to unpack.
I see you. I hear you.
I am in absolute awe of every one of my clients who show up for themselves, especially on the days it feels hardest.
I adore my job and I never take for granted how scary it can be to open up and be vulnerable within therapy.
For those ready to start their therapy journey, please feel free to reach out. 🤍
