ℹ️Older people who need emergency care this weekend may be supported by the HSE Kerry Pathfinder service.

👉HSE Kerry Pathfinder responds to 999/112 calls from people aged 65 and older who may have fallen at home (including nursing homes) or become unwell.

Advanced paramedics, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists will be available in Kerry from 8am to 8pm, Sunday and Monday, helping older people to avoid an ED visit by offering care at home.

✅ Check If You're Eligible for a Free GP Visit Card

The Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, is encouraging people to check if they qualify for a Free GP Visit Card.

Although eligibility was expanded in 2023 to include an additional 500,000 people, many may still be missing out because they are unsure if they qualify or find the application process confusing.

To make things easier, the HSE has launched a new eligibility calculator on MyMedicalCard.ie. The tool helps people quickly check if they may qualify for a GP Visit Card or Medical Card and directs them to the correct application route.

Research found that many people struggle to determine eligibility or navigate the application process. The HSE has responded by:
✔️ Introducing a pre-application eligibility calculator
✔️ Improving guidance for applicants
✔️ Making the application process easier to use

If the cost of seeing a GP is a concern, it may be worth checking your eligibility today. You could be entitled to support that helps you access healthcare when you need it most.

URGENT APPEAL FOR BLOOD DONORS IN CASTLEISLAND AREA
There is an urgent need for Blood Donors both existing & new in Castleisland this Wednesday & Thursday.

A pre-amber alert has been issued in line with the National Blood Shortage Plan, which requests conservative use of blood, and donations are needed to avoid the cancellation of elective surgeries requiring blood support.

📢HSE South West is pleased to announce a new nurse-led chest pain clinic at Cork University Hospital (CUH).
➡️Patients in Cork and Kerry experiencing chest pain can now access faster assessment and specialist cardiology care through the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC) at CUH, following referral from their GP.

👉This new service ensures people receive timely assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, helping to reduce waiting times and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.

Autism Friendly Acting Classes for Children and Teens in Killarney
I’m writing on behalf of the Autism Friendly Committee in Killarney to let you know about an exciting (and free) opportunity for children and teenagers in the local community.
West End House is offering fun, inclusive acting classes specially tailored for young people with neurodiverse needs. The classes are a great opportunity to explore creativity, build confidence, develop social skills and make new friends in a welcoming environment.
The classes will take place on:
Tuesday, October 7th, 14th and 21st
Teens (13–17 years): 2:00–3:00pm with Ciara Carroll
Kids (9–12 years): 3:30–4:30pm with Ciara Carroll
We would really appreciate if you could share the attached flyer with parents/guardians who may be interested in availing of these classes.
We hope this will provide a lovely opportunity for local children and teens to have fun, express themselves and enjoy being part of an inclusive creative activity.
