⚠️ Storm Boelo | Weekend weather warning

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange Wind Warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, from 2pm on Saturday 24 October until 9am on Sunday 25 October.

Severe and damaging gusts are expected, with a risk of fallen trees, power cuts and very difficult travelling conditions. A separate Yellow Rain Warning covers these counties on Saturday, with localised flooding possible.

To our RHS Home Care team, please take extra care when travelling between clients:

• Allow extra time and check local conditions before setting off.
• Reduce your speed and watch for fallen branches, debris and surface water.
• Never drive through floodwater or approach fallen power lines.
• Keep your phone charged and monitor updates, as warnings may change.

Your safety matters. If conditions make a journey unsafe, or you are concerned about reaching a client, contact the on-call team as soon as possible. Support is available throughout the weekend.

Thank you for your continued care and dedication to our clients. Please look after yourselves too. 💙

Sometimes, it’s the little things that mean the most 💙

A familiar face at the door. A chat about how the day is going. Someone taking the time to listen.

Alongside practical support, these everyday moments can help people feel valued, connected and more comfortable accepting help at home.

At RHS Home Care, we recognise that everyone has their own routines, preferences and stories. Taking the time to get to know the person is an important part of caring for them.

Because good care is personal. It’s remembering how someone likes their tea, respecting the things they want to do for themselves and listening to what matters to them.

💗 Spiritual Care Week 2026 | 18–24 October

What exactly is spiritual care?

When we hear the words *spiritual care*, many of us immediately think of religion. But spiritual care is about much more than faith.

It's about recognising the things that give our lives meaning, purpose, comfort and connection.

For someone experiencing illness, ageing, grief or significant life changes, spiritual wellbeing can be just as important as physical and emotional wellbeing.

Spiritual care can take many forms:

💙 Having someone who genuinely listens to your worries or fears.

🩷 Finding comfort in treasured memories, relationships and familiar routines.

💙 Feeling connected to loved ones, nature or the wider community.

🩷 Having personal beliefs, values and religious wishes respected.

💙 Simply having someone there, offering companionship and reassurance.

This year's theme, *Healing Through Presence and Grace*, reminds us that we don't always need to have the answers or find the right words. Sometimes, simply being present and listening can make a meaningful difference.

At RHS Home Care, we believe caring for someone means recognising the whole person, not just their physical needs.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful care begins with simply being there. 💗

🦠 INTERNATIONAL INFECTION PREVENTION WEEK | 19–25 OCTOBER 2026

Past. Present. Protected.

Infection prevention has come a long way over the generations, but some of the simplest measures remain among the most effective.

This International Infection Prevention Week, we're highlighting the importance of everyday actions that help protect older people, vulnerable individuals and those who care for them.

Whether at home or in a healthcare setting, small steps can make a big difference:

🧼 Clean hands regularly and thoroughly.

🤧 Cover coughs and sneezes, and dispose of used tissues safely.

🧽 Keep frequently touched surfaces clean.

😷 Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

💙 Stay at home when unwell to help protect others from infection.

For older people and those with underlying health conditions, preventing infection is particularly important.

At RHS Home Care, we recognise the vital role Care Assistants play in helping to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the people they support. Infection prevention is an essential part of safe, compassionate care.

This week is also an opportunity to recognise everyone working to prevent infections and protect our communities, today and for future generations.
