Inspiring the Next Generation 🌱🎓

We were delighted to be invited by Chung Hua Middle School No. 1, Kuching, to conduct a Career Talk for their Senior 2 and Senior 3 Science students on 17 August 2026.

It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce students to the fields of Audiology, Counselling, and Occupational Therapy, while sharing insights into our career journeys, academic pathways, daily responsibilities, and what they can expect from these professions.

We truly enjoyed engaging with the students, hearing their questions, and sharing our experiences in the hope of helping them explore the many possibilities available as they plan their future careers. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to the Guidance and Counselling Department of Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 for the warm invitation and for giving us the opportunity to connect with and inspire the next generation.

We are delighted to have hosted the MyBacaUji© (MBU©) Training in Kuching, organized by Brainbow.

A special congratulations to our clinical psychologists, Ms. Amy Yao and Ms. Susie Choy, who are now among the certified assessors trained to administer this specific tool for the evaluation of dyslexia in Kuching.

This is a meaningful milestone in strengthening access to specialized dyslexia assessment services locally and supporting children with reading difficulties through more informed and appropriate assessment.

We are proud of our team’s continued commitment to professional development and to enhancing the support available to children and families in our community. 💛

👀 Have You Noticed? Children Are Always “Expressing Themselves.”

Sometimes, children may not be able to put their feelings into words.

Instead, they may express the thoughts and emotions hidden inside them through drawing, playing games, creating artwork, and other activities.

Art and play provide children with a warm and safe space for self-expression, allowing them to:

✨ Recognise changes in their emotions
✨ Learn to express their thoughts and feelings
✨ Build confidence and a sense of safety
✨ Develop communication and social skills
✨ Explore the little challenges they encounter as they grow, in their own way

At 20dB Therapy Tree:

We adopt an integrative psychotherapy approach. During individual sessions, in addition to traditional communication and therapeutic guidance, art and play therapy are also among the core intervention approaches we incorporate according to each child’s needs.

We believe that every child has their own unique way of expressing themselves.

By integrating art, play, and other approaches, our therapists accompany children in discovering their inner strengths, encourage them to grow at their own pace, and help them develop a stronger connection with themselves.

Stress or burnout — can you tell the difference? 🧠

We often use "stress" and "burnout" interchangeably, but they're not the same — and mixing them up can lead you to reach for the wrong fix.

Stress is usually about too much: too many demands, too little time. It shows up as feeling overwhelmed, irritable, restless — but there's often still a sense that if you could just get things under control, you'd feel better.

Burnout is different. It's what happens when work-related stress goes unmanaged for too long. It tends to show up in three ways: constant exhaustion, growing cynicism or emotional distance from your work, and a creeping sense that nothing you do matters anymore — even things you were once good at or enjoyed start to feel pointless.

One important note: if what you're feeling doesn't lift with rest, or comes with persistent low mood or hopelessness, that may be something more than burnout — and it's worth talking to a professional rather than assuming rest alone will fix it.

It's also worth saying: burnout isn't just a personal failing to "push through." It's often a sign that your workload, role clarity, or support needs to change too.

Either way — don't wait until you have nothing left to give.

Take a proper break. Get enough rest. Set boundaries. Reduce what you can. Ask for support — from people and from your workplace or systems around you. Slowing down is not a weakness.
