HIGH-LEVEL STAKEHOLDER VISIT TO ASA HEALTH PARTNERS

Yesterday, ASA Health Partners had the honour of hosting a high-level stakeholder delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), World Health Organization (WHO), Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Initiative (LTR), State TB and Leprosy Control Programme, Yobe state agency for the control of aids Yobe State Agency for the Control of Aids , NACA, National Malaria Control Program, NASCP and SASCP as part of the AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM) Eligibility Assessment.

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to assess our systems, review our program implementation, and gain firsthand insight into the impact of our community-based interventions in the fight against HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

As an implementing partner, ASA Health Partners showcased its community services, including active case finding for TB, community HIV testing and referrals, contact tracing, treatment support, prevention interventions, health education and awareness campaigns, engagement of community health workers and volunteers, and efforts to reach underserved and hard-to-reach populations. These interventions continue to contribute significantly to improved health outcomes and increased access to essential healthcare services at the community level.

The engagement also enabled constructive discussions on program achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities for strengthening service delivery to ensure that no one is left behind in the response to HIV, TB, and Malaria.

We are grateful to the visiting delegation for their time, technical guidance, and commitment to strengthening health systems in Nigeria. ASA Health Partners remains dedicated to delivering impactful, people-centered interventions and working collaboratively with government and development partners to build healthier and more resilient communities.

Together, we can end HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria as public health threats.

As part of the global commemoration of World Tuberculosis Day, ASA Health Partners, in collaboration with the Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Initiative, the State TB and Leprosy control Program, and Yobe state agency for the control of AIDs YOSACA, successfully carried out community outreach activities across Fika, Nangere and Potiskum LGAs

These outreach efforts focused on high-risk and high-traffic public locations including markets, CMAM centers, Almajiri settlements, orphanages, and identified hotspot communities where TB prevalence remains a concern.

During the outreach, our team carried out community-centered activities, including:

Intensive awareness creation and risk communication on TB and HIV—educating communities on symptoms, prevention, and the importance of early testing and treatment
Screening services for both TB and HIV, ensuring early detection and prompt referral for care
Community engagement and sensitization, addressing myths, stigma, and misconceptions surrounding TB/HIV
On-the-spot identification and referral of presumptive TB cases to designated health facilities
Stakeholder engagement sessions with community leaders, health workers, and influencers to strengthen local health systems
Advocacy for improved healthcare access, especially for vulnerable and underserved populations

This initiative reflects our commitment to combating TB and HIV through community-driven approaches, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring no one is left behind.

Together, we can end TB.

As we come to the end of this program, my heartfelt appreciation goes to the Honourable Commissioner, who continues to lead the education of our students to a greater level. I also sincerely appreciate the two principals of GGUC Damaturu and GGSS Buni Gari for their support and encouragement.
My special gratitude goes to the Executive Director of ASA Health Partners for his financial support, which ensured that our students were sensitized on general hygiene practices, GBV, WASH, and nutrition, helping them become good ambassadors of health.

COURTESY VISIT TO YOSACA BY ASA HEALTH PARTNERS

In line with strengthening strategic partnerships and promoting collaborative efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the ASA Health Partners paid a courtesy visit to the Yobe State Agency for the Control of AIDS (YOSACA).

The visit was led by the Executive Director of ASA Health Partners, Mr. Muhammad Annur, alongside key members of staff.

The purpose of the visit was to formally congratulate the Executive Director of YOSACA, Dr. Jibrin Adamu Damazai, on his well-deserved appointment and assumption of office, as well as to reaffirm ASA Health Partners’ commitment to continued partnership and cooperation with the Agency.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Jibrin Adamu Damazai, who welcomed the team with open arms and expressed appreciation for the visit. In his remarks, the YOSACA Executive Director emphasized that YOSACA remains open and accessible to all partners, stressing the importance of synergy, unity, and shared responsibility in addressing HIV/AIDS and related public health challenges in Yobe State.

During the visit, the ASA Health Partners team was also taken on a tour of YOSACA’s new office complex, which reflects the Agency’s commitment to professionalism and efficiency.

The facility includes a fully equipped multipurpose hall, a mini hall suitable for meetings and trainings, as well as free Wi-Fi access for partners, aimed at supporting effective coordination, documentation, and program implementation.

The visit further strengthened the cordial relationship between both organizations and reinforced a shared vision of building a healthier, more informed, and resilient society through partnership, transparency, and collective action.

ASA Health Partners | Awareness & Sensitization Outreach

ASA Health Partners visited BRA BRA Mega School and CENTRAL SCHOOL DAMATURU, to conduct a comprehensive sensitization session on the menstrual cycle, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), HIV, and hygiene best practices.

The session was designed to educate and empower students with essential life-saving knowledge, promote healthy and responsible behaviors, strengthen personal safety and awareness, and encourage a clean, safe, and supportive school environment that enhances effective learning.

We remain committed to nurturing informed, confident, and healthy young people through continuous school and community engagement.

High-Level Outreach Supervision in Potiskum LGA
The Executive Director of ASA Health Partners, alongside the Deputy Program Manager, Yobe State TB Program, LGA TB Supervisor, State Technical Officer LTR, conducted a high-level supportive supervision visit in Potiskum LGA.

During the visit, the team supervised the ongoing community outreach activities, including TB screening using a Portable Digital X-ray (PDX) machine. The delegation engaged with the outreach team and held interactive sessions with the radiographers conducting the X-rays, the data clerk, and Community TB/HIV Workers (CTHWs)to ensure adherence to quality standards, proper data capture, and effective service delivery.

This supervision underscores our collective commitment to strengthening TB case finding, improving service quality, and ensuring timely diagnosis and linkage to care within communities.

Together, we remain dedicated to ending TB through collaboration, innovation, and community-centered approaches.
