🌍 WORLD NO TO***CO DAY 2026
Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BHUTH), Jos, joins the global community in commemorating World No To***co Day 2026, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of to***co use and advocating for a healthier, to***co-free world.
This year's theme, “Unmask the Appeal – Countering To***co and Ni****ne Addiction,” highlights the deceptive tactics employed by the to***co and ni****ne industry to attract and retain users, particularly among young people. It calls on governments, institutions, healthcare providers, and communities to expose these strategies and strengthen efforts to prevent to***co and ni****ne dependence.
To***co use remains one of the leading preventable causes of illness and death worldwide, contributing significantly to cancers, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory disorders, and numerous other life-threatening conditions. Its impact extends beyond individual users, affecting families, communities, and healthcare systems.
At Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and delivering exceptional, patient-centered healthcare. Through health education, preventive services, early diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment, we continue to champion initiatives that improve the health and well-being of our communities.
As we mark this important day, we encourage everyone to make informed choices, support to***co cessation efforts, and advocate for environments that protect present and future generations from the harmful effects of to***co and ni****ne addiction.
Together, we can build a healthier, to***co-free future.
