Today is World Patient Safety Day. This year's WHO theme is safe care for people living with noncommunicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension — conditions millions of Nigerians manage every day.

Safe care means integrated health systems, supported health workers, and patients treated as active partners, not passengers. That's the standard Metaclinic Nigeria is building toward.

Imagine arriving at the hospital by 5am and still being the 60th person in the queue. That's the reality for many Nigerians navigating an overstretched public healthcare system — while private care, though faster, remains out of reach for most, with over 60% of the population living below the poverty line.

This divide between affordable-but-inaccessible and available-but-expensive care is one of the biggest barriers to health equity in Nigeria today.

At Metaclinic Nigeria, we believe quality care shouldn't depend on how much you can pay or how early you can queue.

In May, NAFDAC destroyed over ₦1.8 billion worth of counterfeit medicines in Abuja — including fake cancer drugs and antimalarials with forged registration numbers. Real lives have been affected: some patients have suffered serious complications after unknowingly taking fake medication.

Protect yourself: buy medicines only from licensed pharmacies and authorised distributors, always ask for the exact brand your doctor prescribed, and be wary of prices that seem too good to be true.

Your safety matters. At Metaclinic Nigeria, we're committed to care you can trust.

Nigeria has just 2.9 doctors for every 10,000 people — far below the WHO's recommended 17. We need roughly 400,000 doctors nationwide; we have about 66,000, and many are leaving the country faster than new ones can be trained.

The result: shifts stretching past 48 hours, and rural communities left with almost no coverage at all.

This is why coordinated, accessible care matters more than ever. At Metaclinic Nigeria, we're building a system where patients don't fall through the cracks — even when the workforce is stretched thin.

FCTA is racing to vaccinate 20,000 dogs and cats after rabies cases were confirmed in Gwagwalada and Kwali. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear — but 100% preventable with fast action. If you or a loved one is ever bitten or scratched, get guided immediately through virtual triage on next steps — including whether you need urgent post-exposure treatment. Every hour matters. Healthy, Happy, Together. 💙

The FCTA has launched a two-week mass rabies vaccination campaign targeting 20,000 dogs and cats across Abuja to prevent the deadly disease's spread.

Our hearts are with the communities in Nepal affected by this week's devastating flash floods. Disasters like this are a stark reminder: after major flooding, the risk of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid rises sharply due to contaminated water supplies. If you're ever in a flood-affected area, boil or treat water before drinking, and seek care early for fever or diarrhoea. Stay safe, stay informed. đź’™

Nigeria has recorded over 50,000 cholera cases and 338 deaths so far this year — driven by flooding, contaminated water, and strained sanitation, with children hit hardest.

Cholera is preventable and treatable. Boil or treat your drinking water, wash your hands with soap, and seek care immediately for diarrhoea or vomiting — early treatment saves lives.

At Metaclinic Nigeria, we're here to help you access care when you need it most.
