Legacy Funerals

Legacy Funerals Complete funeral and bereavement care. Every one of us has a story. A story created from our first breath to our last. They’re a place to embrace them.

We believe funerals aren’t just a place to tell these stories. That’s why every Legacy service is bespoke, helping you celebrate your loved one’s life the way they lived it. For memories that live on in your head and in your heart.

Father’s Day is a special time to recognise and celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who have shaped our lives with love, guidance, strength, and unwavering support.

Today, we honour the many ways they have made a difference–through words of wisdom, quiet acts of kindness, shared laughter, and the everyday moments
that become our most cherished memories.

We also take a moment to remember the fathers who are no longer with us. While they may be deeply missed, the love they gave and the legacy they leave behind continue to live on in the hearts of their families and in the values they passed from one generation to the next.

Whether you’re spending the day with loved ones, reflecting on treasured memories, or simply taking a quiet moment to honour someone special, we wish you a Father’s Day filled with love, gratitude, and meaningful connection.

A Will is one of the greatest gifts you can leave your loved ones. It provides clarity during an already difficult time, ensures your wishes are respected, and can help reduce unnecessary stress, uncertainty, and conflict for those you leave behind.

No matter your age or stage of life, having a valid Will is an important step in planning for the future. If you haven’t reviewed yours recently, now is a great time to do so.

Daffodil Day is a powerful reminder of the strength, courage, and hope shown by those affected by cancer.

It also reminds us of something we often take for granted - time. Time spent with our loved ones is one of life’s greatest gifts. A conversation, a hug, a shared meal, or simply being together can mean more than we realise.

Life is precious. Treasure the moments, make the memories, and never underestimate the value of simply being present. Every moment matters.

Since 2019, Legacy Funerals has proudly supported .nz through
annual donations made via the Legacy Trust.

Recently, we had the privilege of visiting some of the families supported by Homes of Hope. Seeing firsthand the positive impact these homes have on children and young people who have experienced trauma and hardship is a powerful reminder of why this partnership means so much to us.

Homes of Hope provides safe, loving homes and life-changing support, helping young people build brighter futures. We are honoured to play a small part in their incredible work by investing in the wellbeing of local families and strengthening the communities we are privileged to serve.

Thank you to Homes of Hope for the difference you make every day.

At Legacy Funerals, we’re here to ease the burden wherever we can. As part of our care, we’ll look after registering the death with Births, Deaths and Marriages on your behalf, so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork during an already emotional time.

To complete the registration, we’ll gently guide you through providing some information about your loved one, including:

– Full name
– Date and place of birth
– Occupation
- Marital or relationship status
- Parents’ names
- Ages of their children
- Details relating to the burial or cremation

Once the death has been officially registered on the day of the burial or cremation, we’ll arrange for an official death certificate to be issued by Births, Deaths
and Marriages. This certificate is often required when managing a loved one’s estate, as well as for matters involving banks, insurance providers, and other legal or administrative processes.

We’re here to support you every step of the way, making the practical details as straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters most.

Funeral service sheets are more than a guide to the ceremony - they become a treasured keepsake that honours the life of someone special.

Service sheets bring together photographs, tributes, readings, favourite poems or hymns, and other personal touches that reflect who they were and the legacy they
leave behind.

They also often outline the Order of Service. Printed on high-quality card, service sheets become a lasting memento of the celebration of life, offering comfort and
preserving cherished memories for years to come.

At Legacy, we work closely with you to create a design that truly reflects your loved one. Whether elegant and traditional or uniquely personal, each service sheet is thoughtfully crafted to celebrate a life well lived and create a keepsake that whānau and friends will treasure long after the service has ended.

Grief is hard. Planning a funeral shouldn’t make it harder.

We believe every family deserves a Funeral Director who listens deeply, guides gently, and shows up, not just professionally, but as a human being.

Words like these remind us of the privilege it is to walk alongside families during life’s most tender moments.

The Tauranga Croquet Club’s ‘Welcome to Winter Croquet Tournament,’ supported by Legacy Trust, showcases the club’s community spirit and dedication to fostering engaging events that bring people together.

Our Warwick attended the event to present prizes, highlighting the ongoing
partnership between the two organisations. Croquet has deep roots in Tauranga, dating back to around 1902 when it shared origins with the local tennis community. In October of 1922, the Tauranga Croquet Club was officially established, fostering camaraderie, competition, and excellence in the sport that continues to thrive today.

We sat down with Val to chat abouther life. Val Heffer is 96 years old and she’s still full of life!

She shares that her earliest memories are: walking down the hall of her childhood home in Wairoa; becoming a nurse; and living in London.

Eventually, Val became a matron at Ranfurly Hospital. She cared for war veterans in the Boer War – one being a drummer boy who was only nine years old when he enlisted.

Val’s philosophy is simple. Life is what you make of it. When things get tough, you dig yourself out. Her stories will inspire you to embrace each day.
