Last Friday 8 May we had a Seminar on Health and Safety in Timaru.
Not the turnout I expected a good quality seminar on how to create a healthy safety culture at work.
Jayden from Central Feeds a division of Pye Group did an awesome presentation from an Operations perspective not a Health and Safety Advisor. To have some one speaking from an operational perspective was well liked. Thankyou to Central Feeds for allowing Jayden the time to prepare and deliver.
Duayne did two presentations, one on what it takes to build a healthy culture and another on training within your business. What stood out from the training was know your trainers, their background, their ability to get the message across. He emphasized there is to much training being eroded and students came out knowing far too little for the investment. Structure competency levels as there is a huge gap in competency vs compliance. Compliance being box ticked, competency being people know there stuff.
Kurt Scoringe gave a presentation of H&S on Christchurch Stadium Te Kaha construction, alot of variables in a tight space for 400 contractors. Communication was the big strategy here and the message was loud and clear to the audience.
Thankyou to Spark, Heartland Chips and Auto Gas Automotive for sponsoring this seminar.
Thankyou to Phil Lemon, Keen as Tyres, Promed Supplies, South Canterbury Driver Training, for spot prizes.
Thankyou to all that assisted putting the seminar together and MC Phil Lemon.
Job well done.
