OPD Health Education Lecture

As part of the continuing celebration of National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week 2026, the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Unit successfully conducted a Health Education Lecture at the Outpatient Department, bringing valuable health information closer to our patients, watchers, and visitors.

In line with this year's theme, "Building Responsive IPC Systems: Strengthening Monitoring, Collaboration, and Resilience," the activity focused on promoting the responsible use of antibiotics through a lecture on Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS).

The session was delivered by Dr. Aiman Cairoden, MD, who discussed the importance of appropriate antibiotic use, the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, and the vital role of patients, healthcare workers, and the community in preserving the effectiveness of life-saving medicines. The lecture emphasized that responsible antibiotic use is a key strategy in preventing antimicrobial resistance and improving patient outcomes.

Following the lecture, an interactive Question-and-Answer Session provided participants with the opportunity to raise concerns and clarify common misconceptions regarding antibiotic use and infection prevention. The discussion was expertly addressed by Dr. Aiman Cairoden, together with Dr. Abdulnasser V. Macaalin, IPC Vice Chairperson and Dr. Intanjamirah Berua, IPC Doctor, who shared their expertise and practical guidance on antimicrobial stewardship and Infection Prevention and Control.

The activity highlighted the importance of continuous health education and community engagement in promoting safe healthcare practices. By increasing public awareness on the responsible use of antibiotics, we take another meaningful step toward preventing antimicrobial resistance and protecting the health of future generations.

Together, let us use antibiotics wisely, prevent infections effectively, and build a safer, healthier, and more resilient community.
