๐ HIGHLIGHTS | Final Culminating Activity of BSND Interns on Geriatric Nutrition Education
On May 11, 2026, the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) interns of Quirino State University successfully conducted their final culminating activity focused on nutrition information dissemination for older adults. Guided by the theme, โHealthy Aging: Tamang Nutrisyon para sa Malusog na Pagtanda,โ the interns shared evidence-based nutrition knowledge to promote healthier lifestyles among geriatric participants.
The educational sessions covered various nutrition-related topics, including kidney-friendly diets, diabetes prevention through proper nutrition, obesity management, hypertension prevention, and other dietary interventions essential for healthy aging.
The success of this activity was made possible through the strong partnership with the Geriatric Department of Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC), led by Dr. Florosita A. Reyes, FPCGM, who emphasized the vital role of proper nutrition in improving the health and well-being of older adults. The event was also attended and supported by the Clinical Dietitians of SIMC, who encouraged and guided the student dietitians throughout the program.
The half-day activity became even more meaningful through the active participation of approximately 50 geriatric attendees, who enthusiastically engaged in discussions, interactive activities, and shared valuable experiences from their aging journey.
This successful initiative would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Southern Isabela Medical Center Management Committee, whose commitment to community health and nutrition education helped make the event a memorable and impactful learning experience for both the participants and future nutrition professionals.
