Connect and Communicate

Connect and Communicate Centre for Speech Therapy and Social Communication We are a centre dedicated to supporting individuals to become effective ‘social communicators’.

Our effectiveness as communicators does not depend merely on the acquisition of speech and language. Many individuals are able to talk but not able to relate. Relating requires one to ‘tune in’ to another. It requires self awareness and awareness of others. Hence social communication includes:

-Attending to other people
-Sustaining engagement
-Thinking about others thinking about you
-Relating (t

hrough play and conversation)
-Problem solving and adapting one’s ideas
-Elaborating on shared ideas
-Reflective thinking

✨ SUPPORTING REGULATION & BEHAVIOUR THROUGH THE USE OF SELF ✨

When a child is dysregulated, it's easy to focus on the behaviour. But what if behaviour is actually communication?

Join Chithra Kathiresan, DIRFloortime® Faculty and Trainer with Profectum (USA), for a full-day, in-person workshop exploring how our own regulation, presence, and interactions shape a child's ability to regulate and thrive.

This workshop will help you:
🌱 Understand behaviour as a child's attempt to manage stress and emotions
🌱 Recognise stress signals and reframe challenging behaviours as meaningful communication
🌱 Build greater self-awareness rather than simply managing symptoms
🌱 Learn how to stay regulated when faced with big emotions and co-regulate effectively
🌱 Recover when emotions overwhelm both you and the child
🌱 Establish healthy emotional boundaries that strengthen relationships and support regulation
🌱 Discover practical techniques to foster co-regulation and self-awareness in classrooms, therapy sessions, and at home
🌱 Understand when regulation curricula can be helpful and how to maximise their impact

Perfect for:

🗣️ Speech & Language Therapists
