Growing up on a farm outside of Bristol taught me many things, including hard work, hope and how people show up for each other in small town communities. In my career, I’ve seen firsthand how dementia impacts this rural way of life.
If we want small towns to thrive, we need to find ways to keep brain health services close to home. Too often, I see families drive 3 hours for specialty care, only to be told there’s nothing they can do except “manage the decline.”
I refuse to believe that should be the standard for rural South Dakota.
That is why I opened Minds Matter PLLC.
We now know that 40% of dementia is preventable, but only if people know this help is available close to home. I’m great at the therapy side, but I need help getting the word out.
Winning the Northern Edge Impact Project would be a game-changer. The marketing support would let me reach the families who are quietly scared, the women navigating brain fog from menopause, the people recovering from concussions and strokes and not sure why their brain “just isn’t normal.”
Here is what I am fighting for:
-Brain health care that stays in rural communities.
-Early screenings so we can prevent dementia.
-Education on how menopause, concussion, illness affect your brain and what you can do to change the course.
-Finding more skilled therapists with a passion for changing lives.
If this resonates with you…if you have ever watched someone you love struggle or you believe rural South Dakota deserves better, please LIKE and SHARE this post. I appreciate it — Tiffany.
