Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck in “fight-or-flight?” Your body might just need a reset - starting with your vagus nerve.

The vagus nerve is a key part of your nervous system that helps your body shift into a calm, “rest & digest” state. When it’s not functioning optimally, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge.

The good news? You don’t need anything complicated to support it. Simple, everyday practices can help regulate your nervous system & build resilience over time.

💡 Easy ways to support your vagus nerve:
- Slow, deep breathing (especially longer exhales)
- Humming, singing, or even gargling
- Quiet moments of stillness, gentle movement, stretching, or time outdoors
- Cold exposure (like splashing your face with cold water)
- Mindfulness or grounding exercises.

These techniques work “bottom-up” - meaning they help calm your body first, which then signals safety to your brain.

🎉 Help us welcome Miah Wills, MSEd! 🎉

Miah earned his master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in clinical mental health from Northern State University. He is currently working towards his PhD in psychology with a specialization of theology at Liberty University. Miah has experience in clinical and school counseling. He has experience working with a wide range of demographics and is welcoming of all people. His theoretical orientation is Christ-centered therapy, psychoanalysis, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy. He provides individual, group, family, and couples counseling.

Miah lives in Aberdeen, SD with his dog Davy. He looks forward to beginning married life with his fiancé this summer. In his free time Miah enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. Miah also loves to study and discuss scripture with friends and family. Miah is currently being supervised as he works towards his LPC licensure. He is offering both in-office and telehealth counseling services.
