💖 A LITTLE WONKY. A LOT WONDERFUL: MEET SCRAMBELINA! 🐾
Sometimes, the pets with the most challenging pasts have the absolute biggest hearts!

We are so excited to introduce you to a very special feline patient named Scrambelina. This beautiful girl was recently rescued by her amazing new owner, but her journey hasn't always been easy. Scrambelina came to us with complications of an unknown past trauma and our surgical team was there to help her through it!

A True Hospital Fan Favorite

Despite everything she has been through, Scrambelina is the definition of resilient! During her stay at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, she quickly became an absolute fan favorite among our entire staff.

Face Hugs for Everyone: She is incredibly lovable and is famous around the clinic for giving the best, most affectionate "face hugs" to anyone who will accept them!

Unbreakable Spirit: Her sweet nature and constant purrs reminded our team exactly why we do what we do.

We are thrilled to report that Scrambelina’s surgery was a success, and she is recovering beautifully in her loving forever home where she is safe, cherished, and perfectly imperfect!

Let's celebrate Scrambelina! 👇 You can follow her story on tiktok

Do you have a rescue pet that is a little wonky but a lot wonderful? Drop a photo of your uniquely beautiful best friends in the comments below, and let's send sweet Scrambelina some love!

😻 HAPPY HEARTS & HEALTHY CATS: APU'S CARDIOLOGY VISIT! ❤️

Here at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, we love caring for the pets of our very own work family! Today, we want to introduce you to a very handsome feline named Apu!!

Apu is the beloved cat of Dr. Esther, one of our incredible rotating interns! Because Dr. Esther is immersed in veterinary medicine every single day, she knows exactly how important preventative care is. Recently, she brought Apu to see our Cardiology specialist, Dr. Stoner, for a routine HCM screening.

We are absolutely thrilled to report that Apu’s heart is perfectly healthy and he got a completely all-clear report! 🎉

What is HCM and why should cat owners know about it?
HCM stands for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, and it is the most common heart disease diagnosed in cats.

The Silent Disease: HCM causes the muscular walls of a cat’s heart to thicken, which makes it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively.

Masters of Disguise: Cats are notorious for hiding their illnesses. Often, cats with HCM show absolutely no outward symptoms until the disease has progressed significantly. Sometimes, they don't even have a detectable heart murmur!

The Importance of Screening: Because it can be so hard to detect with a stethoscope alone, an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) performed by a cardiologist like Dr. Stoner is the gold standard for catching HCM early.

Catching heart conditions early gives our feline friends the absolute best chance at a long, happy, and comfortable life through medical management.

We are so glad Apu has a clean bill of health and that Dr. Esther has peace of mind!

Let’s celebrate Apu's healthy heart! 👇

Drop a ❤️ or a 😻 in the comments below to send Apu and Dr. Esther some love! Have you ever had to take your pet to see a veterinary cardiologist? Tell us about your experience!

🐾🍼CUTE PUPPY ALERT!!!!🍼🐾

Meet Noemie — the newest (unofficial) team member at Metropolitan Vet. 🐾

This 3-month-old Golden Retriever belongs to Nikkie, one of our surgical RVTs, and she's already logged more field research than most interns: car rides with the windows down, porch naps, auntie sleepovers, and a very serious investigation of every critter and flower in the yard.

Puppyhood is equal parts magic and chaos — the incredible parts (that face! that tail!) and the "why is she eating that" parts. Nikkie sees it from both sides: as a new puppy mom, and as someone who spends her days in our surgery suite seeing what happens when puppy curiosity meets the wrong thing at the wrong time.

So we want to hear from you. Whether you've got a new puppy at home right now, you're prepping for one, or you've been through it and lived to tell the tale:

👉 What's the puppy question you're dying to ask a vet professional?
👉 What's the "puppy no-no" nobody warned you about?
👉 What's your best (or funniest) new-puppy survival tip?

Drop it in the comments — we'll be answering questions and sharing tips from our team all week.

🐾🚑WE HAVE OUR OWN VTS EMERGENCY & CRITICAL CARE TECHNICIANS!!!🚑🐾

We've got some serious talent in our Emergency & Critical Care Team, and we want you to meet them. 🎉

Meet two of the people who make our Cleveland Emergency & Critical Care team what it is:
Brittany Racecic, RVT, VTS (ECC) and Emily Seeley, RVT, VTS (ECC).

Brittany and Emily are both RVTs and VTS (ECC) — Veterinary Technician Specialists in Emergency & Critical Care. That's a big deal. Getting this certification means that they've dedicated years of hands-on ER/ICU experience, a mountain of documented cases, a rigorous application process, and a specialty exam that most technicians never even attempt. Brittany and Emily put in that work because they wanted to be the best possible advocates for your pets on their scariest days and for the rest of the staff that help treat them.

Between our Cleveland East and Akron locations, we're proud to have four VTS-credentialed technicians on our ECC team — What does that mean for the pets who come through our doors? It means the people monitoring your pet's vitals, catching the subtle changes, and making split-second calls in a crisis have trained specifically for exactly that. It's a level of expertise you don't find everywhere — and we're genuinely proud to have four VTS-credentialed techs across our two hospitals, two of them right here in Cleveland East.

Next time you're in our Cleveland East hospital, say hi if you see them on shift. 👋

❓What's a moment when a vet tech made all the difference for your pet? 👇Tell us below.❓

🎓 BUILDING THE FUTURE OF VET MED: HANDS-ON AT OUR ASSISTANT ACADEMY! 🐾

At Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, we are deeply committed to investing in the future of veterinary medicine—and that is exactly why we run our very own, in-house Assistant Academy!

Recently, our Akron campus hosted a fantastic event: an Employee-Provided Vaccine Clinic! During this clinic, our hospital staff brought in their own beloved pets so our Academy students could step up and take the lead.

💉 A Beautiful "Win-Win" for Our Hospital:
This event perfectly highlighted two things we care deeply about: elevating our students and supporting our staff!

💉Real-World Experience: Textbooks are important, but there is no substitute for real, hands-on learning. Under the expert guidance of our amazing RVT instructors, this clinic allowed our students to develop vital skills for their roles. They practiced safe animal handling, properly drew up vaccines, and administered them in a real clinical setting.

💉Team Perks: We know how hard our staff works to care for your pets, so we love providing easy, stress-free wellness care for their pets! A huge shoutout to our team members like for letting the students practice with their sweet pets!

When our support staff is confident in their clinical skills, it translates to seamless, high-level patient care across our entire hospital.

🔗 Want to learn more about our Assistant Academy? Do you have questions about our curriculum or what a Veterinary Assistant role is? Find all the details here: https://www.metrovetacademy.com/ or leave your questions in the comments!

Let's cheer on the next generation of veterinary heroes! 👇

At Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, our focus is providing the most precise and advanced care for our patients and beloved family members. 🍔 GRILLING, CHILLING, AND CELEBRATING OUR INCREDIBLE TEAM! ☀️
The veterinary field is beautifully rewarding, but it can also be incredibly demanding. To show our immense gratitude for the talented, compassionate professionals we have on our team, we recently fired up the grills for a company-provided cookout at both our Cleveland and Akron locations!

While enjoying burgers and sunshine is always a great time, investing in our team's culture goes far beyond a free lunch. We know that to provide the most precise and advanced care for your beloved family members, we also have to take exceptional care of our staff.

Why Hospital Culture Matters:

Building Deep Trust: Taking time to laugh and bond outside of the treatment room builds profound trust, which translates to seamless, multidisciplinary team efforts during high-stakes medical procedures.

Elevating Patient Care: When our staff feels valued, refreshed, and supported, they are able to pour that exact same empathy, patience, and love directly into the pets you trust us with.

We believe that an amazing workplace culture is the heartbeat of excellent medicine. We don't just invest in state-of-the-art technology and advanced medicine; we invest heavily in each other.

Let’s show our amazing team some love! 👇
Drop a 🍔 or a 👏 in the comments below to thank our hardworking staff for everything they do!

🐴 Meet Smoothie: The Heart Behind an Innovative New Vision Care Program ✨

At Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, we're always looking for new ways to advance patient care. That's why we're excited to introduce our newest—and biggest—team member: Smoothie, an 18-year-old Appaloosa and the first equine donor in our new Equine Serum Program.

While Smoothie may only have one eye himself, he's helping protect the vision of countless dogs and cats.
When pets experience severe corneal ulcers or other eye injuries, our Ophthalmology team often prescribes serum eye drops to promote healing. Backed by emerging research and growing clinical experience, Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital has introduced an Equine Serum Program to provide an advanced treatment option for patients requiring specialized ophthalmic care.

Developed through the collaboration of our Medical Director, Dr. Ehresman, along with our Ophthalmology and Blood Bank teams, this program offers several important benefits:

👁️ Advanced Care: Emerging research suggests equine serum may provide unique healing advantages for the delicate surface of the eye, making it a valuable treatment option for certain ophthalmic conditions.

🩸 Reliable Supply: Equine donors can safely provide larger blood donations than canine donors, helping maintain a consistent supply of serum so more patients can receive timely treatment when they need it most.

Innovation is made possible through collaboration and thanks to Smoothie's generous contributions, our team can continue expanding access to advanced, evidence-based ophthalmic care for the pets and families we serve.
Welcome to the team, Smoothie. 💙

Let’s give Smoothie the biggest welcome! 👇

🧠 NAVIGATING NEUROLOGY: NIPSEY’S BRAVE JOURNEY! 🐾

Meet Nipsey! A silly pittie boy belonging to one of our very own, Olivia.

Recently, Nipsey started experiencing some scary medical episodes and was diagnosed with Canine Epilepsy. With the help of Dr. Dantio, and her Neuro team, Olivia and Nipsey were given a quick and efficient plan of action to get his seizures under control.

Understanding Canine Epilepsy
Watching your best friend experience a seizure can be a terrifying experience for any pet parent—even for veterinary professionals like Olivia!

Canine epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures.

These seizures occur due to sudden surges of abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

While it can be a lifelong condition, with the right medical management, dogs with epilepsy can go on to live incredibly full, happy, and active lives!

Dr. Dantio and our Neurology team worked closely with Olivia to develop a customized, comprehensive treatment plan to manage Nipsey's condition. Navigating a neurological diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but having a specialist like Dr. Dantio on our team means our patients have access to advanced diagnostics and targeted therapies right here in the hospital.

That is why we promise to treat every single patient with the exact same empathy, patience, and love that we give our very own pets. Because to us, they are family!

We are happy to share that Nipsey is doing well and his epilepsy is being successfully managed.

Please join us in cheering on Nipsey and Olivia! Drop a 💙 or a 🐾 in the comments below to show this brave boy some love!

We would also love to hear the positive experiences that you've had with Dr. Dantio and her team!

💖 THE DEFINITION OF RESILIENCE: CHEERING ON SWEET LILY! 🐾
Some pets don't just steal our hearts; they completely redefine what it means to be a fighter.

Meet Lily, a beautiful, brave girl who holds a very special place in our clinic—because her mom, Nichole, is one of our very own incredible team members!

Over the last two years, Lily has been on quite the rollercoaster. She has bravely faced three major, unexpected abdominal surgeries, most recently overcoming a sudden hurdle this past spring. While her medical journey has been incredibly daunting, this post isn't about the setbacks. It is about her unbreakable spirit and the beautiful power of a support system.

Through every single late night, long recovery, and moment of worry, Lily’s mom has been her absolute rock. Watching their bond only grow stronger through adversity is a profound reminder of why we do what we do.

We also want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible village it takes to get a pet through complex recoveries. To our brilliant surgeons, dedicated ER doctors and Critical Care Team, and the deeply compassionate technicians and assistants who rallied around one of their own: thank you. Your unwavering dedication ensured that Lily could go back to doing what she does best—living a full, happy life and bringing endless joy to her mom.

Lily is currently doing wonderfully, and our entire hospital is cheering her on!

Let’s flood the comments with love for Lily and her mom! 👇
