Did you know estrogen isn’t just one hormone? 🌸
There are three main forms of estrogen in the body:
✨ E1 — Estrone
The form of estrogen that becomes more prominent after menopause.
✨ E2 — Estradiol
The primary and most potent estrogen during the reproductive years. When we talk about estrogen used in menopausal hormone therapy, estradiol is an important form you’ll often hear about.
✨ E3 — Estriol
A weaker estrogen that is present in smaller amounts outside of pregnancy and rises significantly during pregnancy.
So why does this matter? 🤔
As hormone levels change during perimenopause and menopause, women may experience hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, v_ginal dryness, urinary symptoms, and other changes.
Hormone therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Your symptoms, medical history, risks, goals, and appropriate evaluation all matter when deciding whether treatment is right for you.
