Since 2017, New York State has required DEA-registered prescribers to complete education in pain management, palliative care, and addiction. This updated course covers the eight required New York State topics and incorporates current evidence, best practices, and lessons learned since the mandate was first introduced.
The course also addresses topics included in the federal Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act and may be applied toward the federal 8-hour training requirement.
Through literature reviews, case studies, and clinical experience, participants will strengthen their understanding of safe prescribing practices, substance use disorders, and their role in addressing the opioid epidemic while providing effective patient care.
This 3-hour course fulfills New York State's mandated education requirement.
