Join us for an engaging and clinically focused session co-hosted by the APTA VA Early Career Professional SIG and the Geriatric SIG, featuring Becky Riley, PT, DPT, a Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist and faculty member at Old Dominion University. Dr. Riley is also certified in LSVT BIG, PWR!, and vestibular rehabilitation through AIB. Her clinical approach emphasizes open communication, understanding each patientโs goals, and developing individualized treatment plans that are both effective and engaging.
This session will focus on practical screening and clinical reasoning strategies for identifying vestibular involvement, fall risk, and age-related balance and mobility concerns in older adults. Dr. Riley will share clinician-friendly approaches for recognizing when vestibular issues may be contributing to dizziness, imbalance, gait changes, or falls, and how these findings can guide referral decisions and treatment planning.
The session will also highlight how aging-related changes, neurological conditions, and vestibular impairments can interact to affect function and safety. This talk is designed to provide clinicians with useful, immediately applicable strategies to support screening, clinical decision-making, and improved care for older adults at risk of falls.
