Before the calendar fills back in, it’s worth asking: is your nervous system actually ready for what’s coming?

Bracing for a new season can look different than you’d expect. Not just dread, sometimes it’s irritability, a shorter fuse, trouble winding down at night, or feeling “fine” right up until you’re suddenly not.

Swipe for a few signs you might be bracing, even if you haven’t named it yet.

You’re invited to slow down with us this August. Check out upcoming events and book online through my Linktree!: https://linktr.ee/summitcounselingwellness?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=46763c40-bec8-4fbb-9fab-0a0ec2b26675

Some days the only thing that brings me back to myself is sitting in circle.

There’s something about gathering under a new moon with sound moving through the room and women being honest about what they’re actually carrying that resets me in a way nothing else does after a full day of holding space for others.

New moons have always felt like an invitation to go inward instead of forward and to ask what I actually need instead of what’s next on the list. Sound just gives the body a way to arrive there without needing to explain a single thing.

I don’t always know what I need until I’m sitting in that room. And that’s kind of the point.

Sometimes it’s not that talk therapy didn’t work. It’s that talk alone wasn’t the whole picture.

Maybe it’s scrolling later than you mean to or a second glass of wine most nights just to come down from the day. These aren’t character flaws, they’re often the nervous system looking for a way to self-soothe.

This is part of why we’re expanding what we offer at Summit, including Somatic Therapy, DBT, and Substance Abuse Assessments alongside somatic-based substance use treatment. Support that meets the body, not just the story.

If any of this sounds like someone you love, feel free to pass it along. That’s how most people find their way to us. Join us for a women’s circle or a sound bath and stick around to ask any questions to see what might be best for you.

What if, instead of spending your Sunday preparing for the week ahead, you gave yourself permission to actually experience it? 🤍

Fall Into Balance is a full-day Women’s Wellness Reset created for exactly that. A chance to step away from the noise, slow down, reconnect, and explore what feeling cared for can look like.

We’ll spend the day moving through sound healing, meditation, restorative practices, time in nature, meaningful connection, a nourishing lunch, and plenty of space to simply be. There is no experience needed and no pressure to participate in any particular way. Just come exactly as you are.

Sunday, October 25 | 10 AM–4 PM
📍 The Gathering Grounds | Brookline, NH
Limited to just 15 women
Early Bird: $195 through September 13

This summer my boys claimed a little more independence than usual, and it stung some days if I’m honest.

But it wasn’t all loss!!! There was a van weekend, a concert, and a lesson in oyster farming from my oldest. That’s a little proof that letting go doesn’t mean losing everything, it just makes room for something else.

What have you let go of this summer to create space for yourself?

Transitions live in the body before they live in the calendar. It’s so important to get outside and regulate through the sounds of nature and experience how big the world really is.

Back-to-school isn’t just a schedule change, it’s a nervous system shift. There are new routines, new sensory input, new social demands, all of it registers as “something is different” long before anyone consciously clocks it.

This is part of why we look beyond talk alone in this work. Sleep, appetite, digestion, energy, these are data too. When a kid (or a parent) seems “off” in August, the body is often the first place the season shows up.

This is the whole-person lens we hold at Summit, mind and body, together, not separately.

Anxiety doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it shows up as a stomachache.

Every August, weeks before a kid can say “I’m nervous about school,” their body has already started talking.

These signs are not attention-seeking and it’s not “nothing.” It’s a kiddo’s nervous system trying to prepare for a change it can feel coming.

Swipe for a few signs anxiety might be showing up in your kid’s body before it shows up in their words.

You’re invited to slow down with us this August. Check out upcoming events and book online through the link in my bio.

Tried something new recently, and not gonna lie, I was scared!!! I got dirty and loud and got way out of my comfort zone with some incredible girls.

Growth doesn’t always look like stillness. Sometimes it looks like saying yes to the thing that scares you a little, and finding out you’re more capable than you thought.

This is rest too. Joy is restorative.

I invite you to choose one moment of rest that doesn’t need to become productive. No multitasking, or catching up, and no using rest to prepare for more output.

It could be ten minutes outside, a slow cup of coffee, your phone in another room, or lying down without explaining why.
And if something inside you says, “I should be doing something,” gently remind yourself: rest is something.

This is the kind of whole-body care we hold space for at Summit, whether that’s through a sound bath, a women’s circle, or simply giving yourself permission to pause.
