I stepped outside the other evening and caught the moon hanging low and lopsided over the trees, on her way to quiet and shadowed, but still full despite what we can see. It reminded me that even in a season where we feel like we’re shrinking, we are still whole. Perhaps like plants, our energy is moving into our roots and beneath cozy sweaters, hands wrapping mugs, contents warm.
Wether you’re embracing this transition or resisting, it is coming. I’ve resolved into acceptance which has really taken some pressure off feeling like I need to squeeze out any more from summer vibes. Into the fall we go.
The moon we’ll gather under on Wednesday, October 21st is on her way to full.
The Hunter’s Moon will peak on the evening of October 25th here in Alaska. It’s the moon that follows the Harvest Moon, the one our ancestors leaned on for the work of getting ready for winter. This year she’s glowing in Ta**us, an earthy, grounded sign that’s all about the body, the senses, and what truly feeds us. With the Sun in Scorpio across the sky from her, the season is nudging us toward honesty: what are we actually nourished by, and what have we been carrying around out of habit?
I love that we get to meet her before the fullness arrives. A full moon asks us to harvest and release. A waxing moon invites us to begin. So we’ll use our evening to settle in, soften the shoulders, and let the crystal bowls carry us into stillness, and then quietly choose one small thing to grow toward as the light fades and the nights stretch long.
There’s no wrong way to be in the room. Come tired, come curious, come with a long list of things still undone. Mats, bolsters, and blankets are provided. Bring anything else that makes you feel cozy.
Reserve your seat, these classes fill up quickly.
