As Dr. Michael McNamara begins his retirement, he wanted to share this message with his patients and their families, his colleagues, and the greater Alaskan community, all of whom have been such an important part of his journey.

Serving Alaskans over the years has been an incredible privilege, and Dr. McNamara is deeply grateful for the trust, support, and relationships built along the way. Thank you for allowing him to be a part of your care and your lives.

This week feels especially meaningful for us—it’s our final week together at McNamara Hand as Dr. McNamara heads into retirement. After more than 27 years of caring for patients in Alaska across multiple practices, it’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to each of us—and especially to Dr. Mac. We are so grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us and for the relationships we’ve built along the way. You’ve truly been part of our story.

In the midst of it all, we also shared some special moments this week, including celebrating Nurse Tara’s birthday!

A week full of gratitude, memories, and a little bit of bittersweet. 💙

On this National Doctors' Day, we proudly honor Dr. Michael McNamara for 27 years of dedicated upper extremity orthopedic care.

A true pioneer, he performed Alaska’s first finger replantation surgery and first reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. McNamara also holds four patents that advance wrist surgery and improve patient outcomes. Known for his expertise, skill, and compassionate care, Dr. Mac has left a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike.

As he prepares to retire on May 1st, we celebrate his remarkable career and wish him all the best in the adventures ahead!

🎉 Important Announcement 🎉

After more than 27 years of serving our Alaska community, Dr. Michael McNamara will be retiring from orthopedic surgery on May 1st.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. McNamara has helped countless patients regain mobility and return to the activities they love. We are incredibly grateful for his exceptional skill, strong leadership, and the compassionate care he has provided to so many individuals and families over the years.

Please join us in celebrating an outstanding career and wishing Dr. McNamara a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.
