Elmo Gerald Hutton

In Loving Memory of Elmo Gerald Hutton

Rev. Elmo “Gerald” Hutton of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, August 31st, 2026,at age 89. Born May 24, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to Rev. Elmo “Lincoln” Hutton and Golda LucilleHutton, he lived a life devoted to God, family, and ministry.

Gerald began his career as a banker, working for 18 years while also answering his call to the ministry.

In 1969, he began serving as Assistant Pastor under Rev. Voar Shoemake in San Jose, California,becoming a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) in 1970.

From 1974 to 1999, he pastored five churches throughout Oklahoma and North Carolina. In 2001, hewas elected North Carolina District Secretary/Treasurer of the UPCI, faithfully serving in that role until retiring in 2014.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, “Lincoln” and Lucille; his brothers, David EarlHutton and Frank Andrew Hutton, husband of Ruth. He is survived by Lucy Emogene Hutton, his wifeof 69 years; his sister, Carolyn Lucille Grissom, wife to the late “Buddy” Grissom; his only child, DavidGerald Hutton, and wife, Stephanie; grandson Justin Hutton and wife, Ashley; granddaughter CarlyHutton; and great-granddaughter Parker Hutton.

Beyond his ministry, Gerald enjoyed many parts of life frequently finding something new. He lovedfishing, cars (especially new ones), and riding motorcycles in retirement. As his family knows, no hobby was safe for long! While His interests frequently changed, one thing never did - his love for the Lord and his family, which remained constant throughout his life.

Gerald will be remembered as a faithful minister and loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather devoted to God and soulwinning. From Pacific to Atlantic, his life touched countlesspeople, and his legacy of faith and love will continue through the generations. His earthly journey is complete, but his influence remains.

He fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. We can only imagine his joy to hearthe words he longed to hear: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, from 5:30-7:00 pm at LIFEchurch

Benjamin Roy Wilkerson

Benjamin Roy Wilkerson, known to his family and friends as Ben, departed this world peacefully at his home on August 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Born on December 11, 1948, in Asheboro, North Carolina, Ben embraced a life full of rich experiences, deeply rooted in family, community, and service.

Ben was the cherished son of the late Roy Wilkerson and Alma Robbins Wilkerson. He grew up in Asheboro where he graduated from Asheboro High School and furthered his education by attending community college. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he traveled to Korea, and continued his service with the National Guard Armory in Asheboro, NC.

For 28 years, Ben worked diligently at Martin Marietta, retiring only after undergoing open-heart surgery. His career began alongside his father at Randolph Packing, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication.

Known for his unwavering commitment, Ben was a man who could always be counted on to lend a hand.

Ben was married for 55 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Alice Yow Wilkerson, who predeceased him. Their union was blessed with two children, Amy (Todd) Snider and Eric (Patricia) Wilkerson, who were the pride and joy of his life. As a father and grandfather, Ben was endlessly supportive and delighted in the company of his grandchildren, Kelsey Snider and Caleb (Jada) Wilkerson, Amanda (CJ) Nelson, Madison (Ian) Peksa, great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lincoln Wilkerson, and Wyatt Nelson. His Love for them was evident in every smile and gentle embrace.Ben's heart was as vast as his interests. He loved gardening and playing golf, often seen on the green with his dear friend, Lee Straughn. A devoted fan, he cheered enthusiastically for his favorite team, Duke. His community involvement was profound; he was an active member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church until its closure and continued his spiritual journey at Neighbors Grove. Ben also cherished the fellowship and camaraderie found during BYF trips with his church family.

His kindness extended beyond his own family to the many children he adored.

Ben was known for his compassionate spirit, always ready to help those in need.

His nurturing nature was particularly evident in the caregiving roles he assumed for his mother-in-law, Swannie Yow, and his dear wife, Alice, during her battle with Alzheimer's.

Ben is survived by his loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers, Jimmy and Gene Wilkerson, and his sister-in-law, Joyce Maness. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Alice, and his sisters Beulah Mae Hunt and Debbie Kay Wilkerson.

In honoring Ben's life, the family suggests that donations be made to a Randolph County Honor Guard or Giles Chapel Cemetery, as a tribute to a man who touched so many lives with his generosity and warmth. Ben Roy Wilkerson will be remembered as a pillar of strength and kindness, a man whose love and laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Glen "Mac" Pugh Chapel with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Interment will follow at Giles Chapel Cemetery.

Shirley M Roehm

Shirley Marlene Stevens Roehm, age 89, passed away on August 30, 2026, at Randolph Hospice House. She was born on March 1, 1937, in Sterling Township, Brown County, Ohio, to the late Robert Stevens and Lelia Colwell Stevens.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 4:00 pm at Balfour Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wilburn officiating

Margaret Kennedy Evans

Margaret Louise Kennedy Evans, age 89 of Randleman, NC, died Saturday August 29, 2026, at the Randolph Hospice.

She was born October 20, 1936, to Clyde Spencer and Lela Ethel Lewis Kennedy.

She was a native of Randolph County, worked at the Greensboro Rubber Stamp Company and was married for almost 70 years to C.R. Evans, Jr. who preceded her in death in June of this year. Margaret enjoyed working in the yard, loved her family and her pets, especially her canine companion Jesse. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother: Michael Kennedy.

She is survived by daughters, Pamela McCoy (James) of Asheboro, Patricia McBride (Ricky) of Star, Lori Cockman (Donald) of Pleasant Garden, Teresa Richardson (Jason) of Level Cross; grandchildren, Nichole, Morgan, Zach, Justin, Staci, Sara, Dusty, Travis, Damon; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 11:30-1:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main Street Randleman, NC. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel with Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Level Cross Methodist Church Cemetery.

Brandon Tavon Cassidy

Brandon Tavon Cassidy was born on September 13, 2004, in Randolph County, North Carolina, to his loving parents, Rodney and LaTasha Cranford Cassidy. Brandon was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose life, though far too short, left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Brandon was a loving, hardworking, talented, and determined young man who could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He was extremely handy and had a natural ability to learn different trades, work with his hands, fix things, and help others whenever they needed him. Brandon was also known for his sense of humor and his ability to brighten any room. He loved making people laugh and was often everyone’s “hype man,” always encouraging others and making the people around him feel loved and special. Brandon enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and riding dirt bikes / motorcycles. He also had a strong love for cars and enjoyed working on them and being around them especially with his father. Brandon had a special place in his heart for animals. He rescued and lovingly cared for his dog, Capone, and his two turtles, giving each of them plenty of love, care, and attention. Above all, Brandon loved and cherished his family. The special relationships he shared with his loved ones meant so much to him, helping especially his Aunt Angela look after his grandfather Bobby Cranford and creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Brandon is preceded in death by his grandfather Curtis Cassidy, his great grandmothers Alline Isley, Adrian King, Margaret Poindexter and great grandfather Clarence Poindexter, his uncle Randy King, his cousins Travis Cassidy, Ciara Heigaard and Clarence Cranford.

Brandon leaves to cherish his memory his mother, LaTasha Cranford Cassidy; father, Rodney Cassidy; siblings, Dominique Cassidy, Christina Dickens (Marvin), Candis Cassidy; niece, Kamora Pollard; nephews, Jentzen and Jeremiah Cassidy-Battle; his grandparents Carolyn and Bobby Cranford and Elaine Cassidy and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Brandon’s smile, laughter, loving heart, and unforgettable personality will live on through everyone who loved him. He will forever be deeply loved, greatly missed, and never forgotten.

Funeral services for Brandon Cassidy will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 5, 2026, at West Asheboro Baptist Church with Buddy Maness conducting the service. Burial will follow the service at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, Asheboro, NC. Visitation will be held Friday night, September 4, 2026, 6:00-8:00 at the Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC.

Gary Earliwine

Gary Earliwine, age 73, of Asheboro passed away on August 19, 2026 at Asheboro Rehabilitation & Healthcare.

Gary was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 5, 1953 to Ray and Teresa Kelly Earliwine. Gary was a very generous and giving man. He loved farm life and animals, especially horses. He loved being outdoors-hiking and fly fishing. Gary loved woodworking, making pens and knives. He built and raced his own dragster. Gary loved Hallmark movies and Christmas was his favorite time of the year. Breakfast was his favorite meal of the day, and he frequented Franklinville Diner and CJ’s.

He is survived by his children, Jason Earliwine (Cleveland) of High Point, Scott Earliwine (Jenn) of West Mifflin, PA, Bryan Earliwine of Asheboro, and Lesley Earliwine (Joe) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Shelby, Lane, and Wyatt; brother, Mark Earliwine (Colleen); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Melissa Earliwine.

The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Jason’s house in High Point immediately following the visitation.

Memorials may be made to Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue.org, which is the organization that helped re-home Gary’s beloved horse, Hallie, with her wonderful new owner, Pam.
