Charles McPherson Timms

Charles McPherson Timms, age 72, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away on October 27, 2026, at his home.

Charles was born on April 14, 1954, in Rockingham, North Carolina, to the late Charles Preston Timms and Sadie McPherson Timms.

A devoted family man with a generous spirit, Charles cherished the life he shared with his loved ones. He spent 28 wonderful years with his partner, Felicitas "Feli" Noeller, and took immense pride in his daughters, Carla and Heather, who remained the light of his life. Those who knew Charles well will fondly remember his signature style, as he firmly believed that suspenders were an essential wardrobe staple meant to be worn at all times.

A hardworking and community-minded man, Charles dedicated over twenty years of his life to serving his neighbors as a volunteer firefighter. His strong work ethic carried over into his professional life, where he owned and operated Timms Memorial Company and worked with Tru-check Metering Solutions. Charles also possessed a profound love for animals, a passion that perfectly aligned with his role as General Manager at Lakeview Veterinary Hospital, where he served faithfully until his retirement. His deep compassion for animals naturally extended to his home, where he found great joy and comfort in the constant companionship of his beloved dogs and cats.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Patti McKenzie Timms.

He is survived by his partner, Felicitas "Feli" Noeller; his daughters, Carla Thomas and her husband, Hunter, and Heather Covington and her husband, Jason, all of Rockingham; his sister, Martha Richardson of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Annabel Covington, Ethan Covington, Jenna Rippy, and Jordan Rippy; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his cherished pets.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moore County Kennel Club, PO Box 22, Southern Pines, NC 28388.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro.

An additional Celebration will be held in Rockingham at a later time.

Joretta Nance McNeill

Joretta Nance McNeill passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, and entered eternal rest on October 27, 2026.

Born February 24, 1938, in Asheboro, North Carolina, Joretta was the daughter of Frazier and Faye Nance. She attended Asheboro High School and earned nursing degrees from Randolph Community College and Guilford Technical Community College. She devoted many years of service to Randolph Hospital before continuing her career in home healthcare, where she found great joy in caring for others. Through her compassion and dedication, she formed lasting relationships with her patients and touched the lives of many.

A courageous 30-year breast cancer survivor, Joretta actively participated in Relay for Life, walking countless laps and supporting the fight against cancer. She was also a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro and a member in the Mary Martha Sunday School class, where her faith was a cherished part of her life.

In addition to her parents, Joretta was preceded in death by her beloved son, Thomas (Tommy) Richard McNeill, Jr.; her infant daughter, Kathy Lee Robbins; and her very special cousin, Peggy Tufts.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Thomas “Richard” McNeill, who lovingly cared for her at home as her health declined; daughters Donna Robbins Burgess of Greensboro, Teresa Robbins Timmons (Milton) of Greensboro, and Kimberly Robbins Matthews (Michael) of Greensboro; daughter-in-law Sandra McNeill; sister Emily Nance; grandchildren Tyrone Matthews (Ullanda), Travis Matthews (Kourtney), Keesha Timmons Lee (Mario), Terrell Timmons (Tia), Kelli Burgess Collins (Kyle), Allison Burgess Pryce (Tajae), and Forrest McNeill; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Clarice Hurley, Jean Smith and Shirley McNeill; and special friend Becky Cline.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 1:00pm – 1:45pm at First Baptist Church, 133 N. Church St., Asheboro. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Dr. John Rogers, Rev. Stephen Owen, and Pastor Boyd Byerly officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice and First Baptist Church for the loving care and support provided to Joretta and her family.

James "Tad" Joel Daniel

James "Tad" Joel Daniel, age 65, of Sophia, North Carolina, passed away on October 25, 2026, at his home.

Tad was born on July 23, 1961, in Welch, West Virginia, to Eva B. Perry and the late August R. Daniel.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Tad spent his career in the printing business, ultimately retiring from ProAmpac. Beyond his strong work ethic, he was the steadfast foundation for his siblings. As the firstborn, he naturally took on the role of the protective big brother and always held a profoundly special place in his mother's heart. In a unique display of his deep respect and affection, he was the only child who always addressed her lovingly as "Mother."

Tad shared many traits with his father, particularly his straightforward, to-the-point nature. Yet, beneath his direct exterior lay a brilliant, dry sense of humor. He possessed the rare ability to deliver a story with an entirely straight face, often leaving his sister crying tears of laughter. Though his passing brings great sorrow, his family finds deep comfort in the promise of reunion, trusting that Tad has simply gone ahead to save them a place at the table until they are all together again.

In addition to his father, Tad was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Brooks, and his nephew, Joshua Jones.

He is survived by his mother, Eva B. Kivett (Pastor Jack Kivett); his daughter, Candice Justice and her husband, Eric; his granddaughter, Lilliona Justice; his sister, Tammy Jones and her husband, Danny; and his brothers, Pete Daniel of Sophia, John Daniel of Seagrove, and Joey Daniel of Seagrove.

John Thomas Whte, 72, of Randleman passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He was born on August 13, 1954 in Sanford, NC to Thomas Wilson White and Geneva Gertrude Williams White.

Crystal Ann Rushing

Crystal Ann Haywood Rushing, age 48, of Asheboro, formerly of Troy, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center, Charlotte, NC, surrounded by her loving family.

Crystal was born in Montgomery County, NC, on December 20, 1977, to the late James Floyd Haywood and Margaret Ann Lemons. She was a 1996 graduate of West Montgomery High School and a 1998 graduate of Montgomery Community College with a Nursing Degree. She continued working as a Nurse for 28 years.

Crystal was an excellent nurse and took her vocation very serious. She loved taking care of others, making sure they were always looked after. Crystal had a love for anything and anyone, but especially she loved her children.

Crystal is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bobby Rushing; son: Cris Rushing and daughter Baleigh Rushing; mother: Margaret Lemons; sisters: Angela Latham (Darrell) of Troy, and Sonya Parsons (Ed) of Troy; nephews: Darrell Latham (Riley) of Troy, Jacob Latham (Mackenzie) of Albemarle, Austin Cesaro (Melinda) of W. Va., Ryder Freeman of Troy; niece: Tiffany Williams (Adam) of Seagrove; six great nieces and one great nephew; step mother Ann Haywood, and her furbaby Missy. She was preceded in death by her father James Haywood.

Charles Carlos Torres, age 73 of Asheboro, died Friday, October 23, 2026, at Asheboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Asheboro.

Charles was born in Bronx, NY and worked for many years as a US Postal Clerk. He was a member of Bailey's Grove Baptist Church.

The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church, Asheboro, NC with viewing 30 minutes prior from 10:30-11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Moises Rosario, Rev. Jonathan Shook and Pastor Ricardo Rosario will officiate.

Johnny Ray Street

Johnny Ray Street, age 57, of Asheboro passed away on October 23, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Johnny Street was born in Asheboro on November 9, 1968, to Dallas and Cora Lee Long Street. A hardworking, selfless, and compassionate man, Johnny touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was a natural mentor who took pride in sharing his knowledge and helping others succeed. A skilled builder with a remarkable ability to build or repair just about anything, Johnny was also a proud business owner and entrepreneur who valued hard work, independence, and the satisfaction of creating something with his own hands.

Johnny had a heart of gold and was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Always quick with a joke and a smile, he brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. He was the rock of his family, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud Pawpaw whose love and support meant everything to those closest to him. His family was his greatest pride, and he will be remembered for the strength, love, and unwavering devotion he gave them.

An adventurer at heart, Johnny never lost his childlike spirit or his love for life. He found joy in riding his Harley-Davidson, working on his beloved classic cars, and taking them out to race. He also had a deep appreciation for animals and the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hiking, camping, ridding side by sides and kayaking. Whether he was working on a project, sharing a laugh with friends, or spending time with the people he loved, Johnny lived life on his own terms and made the most of every moment.

Johnny’s motto was “LLFT”- "Live Life Full Throttle.”

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 31 years, Denise Rundle Street; daughters, Natasha Newsome (Dustin) of High Point, Tabitha Harper (Brantley) of Robbins; and Michaela Street (Michael Randolph) of Randleman; grandchildren, Meredith, Gabriella, Ryatt, Olivia, and Conor; brothers, Dallas Street, Jr. (Angela) of Bennett and Nathan Street (Shannon) of South Carolina; and sister, Robin Crigger of Asheboro.

A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at a later date.
