Six weeks after finishing PT, Sarah raced her first sprint triathlon.

She came in coming back from a hamstring injury. Dr. Yi didn't just settle the hamstring — she fixed the little compensations around it that turn into the next injury.

Back pain doesn’t mean you need to stop moving. 👏

In fact, one of the biggest mistakes we see people make is avoiding movement altogether because they’re afraid of making their back worse.

The key is figuring out what movements your back currently tolerates well, what needs to improve, and how to progressively build your capacity from there.

That might mean working on:
👉 Hip and spinal mobility
👉 Core and trunk strength
👉 Better control under load
👉 Gradually returning to bending, lifting, squatting, and training
👉 Addressing the specific limitations contributing to your pain

At WildHawk Physical Therapy, our goal isn’t to give you a list of things you should never do again.

We want to help you build a back that feels strong, capable, and confident doing the things you love. 💪

If back pain has been keeping you out of the gym, off the trail, or second-guessing everyday movement, schedule a FREE Discovery Call with one of our Doctors of Physical Therapy.

An old shoulder injury that never fully healed. Then it started subluxating during ordinary, everyday movement.

She'd already done PT elsewhere — the kind where you see a different provider every week for a fraction of an hour. At WildHawk she gets 60 uninterrupted minutes with the same PT, every visit.

Four sessions in with Dr. Yi: range of motion already past where it was before the injury. In her words — "my mind braces for subluxation, but my shoulder stays in."

That's what happens when someone actually owns your case. Free discovery call — check out our website.

🏃♂️ Always learning. Always improving. Always looking for ways to better serve our runners.

The WildHawk Physical Therapy team recently headed to Miami for a running-focused continuing education course—and this one brought together team members from both our Asheville and Port Orange locations! 🌴☀️

We spent the course sharpening our skills in evaluating runners, understanding running mechanics, identifying factors that can contribute to injury or limit performance, and learning new strategies to help runners stay healthy and perform at their best.

For us, continuing education isn’t about collecting certifications. It’s about bringing better tools back to the clinic so we can give our clients the highest level of care possible.
Whether you're dealing with a nagging running injury, trying to return to running after time away, or simply want to become a stronger, more resilient runner, we want to understand the whole picture—not just where it hurts.

And getting our Asheville + Port Orange crews together for some learning in Miami? Not a bad way to spend a weekend. 😎

Here’s to continuing to learn, grow, and bring even better running rehab and performance care to our communities. 🦅

We were so excited to be a part of the Asheville Craft B**r Half Marathon & 10K/5K! 🏃♀️ 🏃

Christian forgot to get videos and take more photos…but he at least remembered to take one…😂

We performed free bodywork for the race participants and had some great conversations with the athletes!

We love working with runners…it’s a passionate that we have living here in the mountains.

If you’re a mountain runner and things aren’t feeling quite right or you have an injury that’s holding you back, let’s chat. There’s a good chance we can help.

Comment if you or someone you know had fun at the race!

You’ve been walking more. You’ve been exercising. You’re trying to stay active…
So why does your back or hip STILL hurt? 🤔

Movement is important—but simply doing more movement isn’t always enough to solve recurring pain.

If your back or hip pain keeps coming back, there may be something specific that hasn’t been addressed yet:
👉 A mobility restriction
👉 A strength or stability deficit
👉 Poor tolerance to the activities you’re asking your body to handle
👉 A movement compensation that keeps putting stress in the same area

That’s why at WildHawk Physical Therapy, we don’t just tell you to rest—or hand you a generic list of exercises.

We figure out WHY you’re hurting, identify what your body actually needs, and build a personalized plan to help you get back to walking, lifting, running, hiking, working out, and doing the things you enjoy.

Because the goal isn’t just temporary relief.

It’s getting you back to moving confidently without constantly wondering when the pain is going to come back. 💪

Shoulder pain doesn’t just affect your shoulder. It can start changing the way you lift, train, sleep, work, and even how confident you feel using your arm.

And if you’re an active adult or athlete, simply being told to “rest until it feels better” probably isn’t the answer you’re looking for.

Our newest blog breaks down how physical therapy for shoulder pain can help you understand what’s actually contributing to the problem and build a plan to get back to the activities you care about.

We cover:
🏋️ Why shoulder pain is so common in active adults and athletes
💪 How strength, mobility, and technique can contribute to symptoms
🎯 Why targeted rehab goes beyond simply chasing pain
⛳ How treatment can be tailored to your sport, training, and goals
📈 What it takes to rebuild confidence with pressing, lifting, throwing, golfing, and other activities

The goal isn’t just to make your shoulder hurt less.

It’s to help you trust it again.

Small, targeted changes in strength, mobility, movement, and training can make a huge difference in both pain and performance.

Pain shouldn't be the only reason you think about physical therapy.

Too often, people wait until something hurts enough to stop them from running, lifting, playing their sport, or doing the activities they love before they finally address it.
At WildHawk Physical Therapy, we want to change that mindset.

Be proactive, not reactive.

Physical therapy can be about so much more than getting out of pain.

We can help you:
💪 Build strength and resilience
🏃 Improve the way you move and perform
🎯 Identify limitations before they become bigger problems
📈 Work toward new fitness and performance goals
🛡️ Reduce your risk of recurring injuries
🔥 Keep doing the things you love for years to come

You don't have to wait until you're injured to work with a physical therapist.

Our goal isn't simply to get you back to where you were before the pain started. We want to help you become stronger, more confident, and better prepared for whatever you want your body to do next.

Don't wait for pain to force you to take care of your body.

Recurring injuries aren't normal.

If the same pain keeps coming back every time you run, hike, or train, there's usually an underlying reason—and that's exactly what we help uncover.

Dan came to WildHawk after dealing with recurring tendinitis from running. Instead of just calming the pain down, Dr. Sydney helped identify the root cause and built a personalized plan to address the underlying issues that were keeping the injury coming back.

The goal isn't just feeling better for a week.

It's giving you the tools, strength, and confidence to stay active long after physical therapy is over.

Thank you, Dan, for trusting us with your recovery and sharing your experience!
