Forty-five years of progress, and almost none of it came from the medical system deciding to care.

Every step in this timeline followed people organizing, protesting, running their own drug trials, and burying friends while being told to wait. The tests, the treatments, PrEP, the science behind U equals U. All of it was fought for.

Our providers read the whole chart. They remember your name and use it. They create plans that actually address your concerns. They do not make you explain your life before they will help you.

Coming out is not one moment. It is a decision you make again in every new room, and a doctor's office carries more weight than most.

It also has a clinical cost. The screenings we recommend and the questions we ask depend on knowing your actual life, so a complete picture gets you complete care.

That is why we ask directly. Name and pronouns are standard fields on the form, your provider reads them before walking in, and sexual health is a normal part of the visit.

A good HIV appointment covers more than your viral load.

It should also be tracking blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney function, blood sugar, heart health, and how you are actually doing. Those are the systems that get missed when HIV care and primary care happen in separate buildings.

You are allowed to ask whether yours are being watched. Here, the person managing your HIV is also your primary care provider, so the answer is yes.

Meet Dr. Elliott, a Harvard-trained internist who spent three years at the Fenway Institute and specializes in HIV and LGBTQ care, with additional training in complex disease management.

What that means for you is that one person can manage your HIV care or your PrEP while also watching your heart, your kidneys, and everything else most practices overlook.

He would tell you the credentials are not the point, though. He built this practice on the belief that primary care is about relationships, and that good ones start when someone feels genuinely seen.
