Can a peanut allergy actually be reversed? 🥜

David’s numbers were really high a year ago—his peanut IgE was 20, and his component testing for the more concerning part of peanut was 25.

But after introducing peanut early and continuing treatment, that number dropped from 25 to 5. 🙌

So what does that mean?

It means that even when allergy numbers start out high, there may still be an opportunity to reduce the risk of reactions and potentially change the course of the allergy over time.

Our goal? Hopefully, by the time David reaches kindergarten, peanut butter can be just like any other food. 🥜❤️

At just 6 months old, this little guy had a peanut IgE of 7—a pretty high number for his age. 🥜

Now he’s 3, and after consistently doing peanut flour and PB Fit, his peanut IgE has dropped from 7 all the way down to 1! 🙌

That’s a significant change.

The goal? By the time he reaches kindergarten, Dr. Chacko hopes he’ll be eating peanut butter just like other kids. 🥜❤️

At just 9 months old, she had an allergic reaction after trying peanut butter. 🥜

Her family was told, essentially, “Don’t let her have peanut butter for the rest of her life.”

But they weren’t satisfied with that answer.

They found Dr. Chacko and started treatment when she was only 9 months old. Fast-forward to today: she’s 4 years old and can eat peanut butter! ❤️🥜

First time having shrimp… and his review was NOT what we expected. 😂🍤

He came in for a shrimp challenge, and after trying it for the first time, we had to ask the most important question:

“What does it taste like?”

His answer? **“It tastes like meat.”**

Then came the honest review: it doesn’t smell very good… it smells like his dog. 😂

But after giving it a chance, he decided the shrimp was actually really good — so good that he planned to eat the rest!

Food challenges can be a huge milestone for patients who have spent years avoiding certain foods because of an allergy.

And sometimes, the first bite comes with a LOT to say. 🍤😂

Dr. Chacko explains the plan: start by working on the peanut allergy first, while monitoring the egg and milk allergies to see how they respond.

If those allergies don’t improve on their own, the next step may be treating them as well.

Her first peanut M&M… and it could be one step closer to her dream of becoming an Army officer. 🥜🍫🇺🇸

She came to Chacko Allergy Center because of her peanut allergy. Today, she took part in a supervised peanut challenge and tried a peanut M&M for the very first time.

After waiting and being monitored, it was time for the verdict:

“Surprisingly, they were good.” 😂

But this moment was about more than just trying a new candy.

She’s working toward going active duty in the Army and becoming an Army officer, and addressing her peanut allergy was an important part of continuing that process.

For someone who has spent her life avoiding peanut, that first bite can be a pretty big moment.

One peanut M&M. One big milestone. And hopefully one step closer to the future she’s working toward. ❤️

She came in thinking it was allergies… but look what Dr. Chacko found inside her nose. 👀

During her exam, Dr. Chacko looked inside the right side of her nose and discovered a large, white, gelatinous growth — a nasal polyp.

Nasal polyps are soft, noncancerous growths that can develop from chronic inflammation in the nose and sinuses. They can cause congestion, difficulty breathing through the nose, decreased sense of smell, and ongoing sinus symptoms.

Sometimes, persistent “allergy symptoms” can have another cause hiding in plain sight.

That’s why a thorough evaluation matters. If you’ve been dealing with constant congestion or trouble breathing through your nose, it may be time to take a closer look.

For this patient, we're starting with the peanut allergy and working toward gradually increasing tolerance through a personalized treatment plan. Once we make progress, we’ll continue monitoring and determine the next steps for milk and egg.

After a severe shellfish reaction in her late 20s, she was told she had experienced anaphylaxis—and avoided shellfish for nearly 30 years.
