When a parent or spouse is living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia, the question families ask most often isn't "what's available?" It's "is home still possible?" At Advantage Private Home Care, the answer is often yes — with the right professional support in place.

All of Advantage's caregivers are state-verified CNAs, trained to provide hands-on care for clients with cognitive decline. That means help with daily routines — bathing, grooming, meals, medication reminders — delivered consistently, by the same familiar face. For a client who struggles with changes in environment or routine, that consistency isn't a perk. It's part of the care itself.

Every care plan is supervised by a registered nurse, and Advantage is available 24/7 — including for families who need to start care quickly. Serving 35 counties across Metro Atlanta, the team works with families to build a plan that fits the client's needs and the family's reality, whether that's a few hours a day or around-the-clock support.

If your family is navigating a loved one's memory care needs, visit advantageprivatehomecare.com to learn more about what in-home support can look like. When did your family first start thinking about whether a parent needed more structured daily support at home?

When Daniel Levy was 19 years old, he was in a serious accident that changed his life forever. The months that followed, recovering, navigating the healthcare system, and depending on others for the first time, gave him a perspective that most healthcare professionals never have: he understood from the inside what it means to be the person who needs care, not just the person delivering it.

That experience pointed him toward a career in home healthcare. He worked over 15 years at Maxim Healthcare and Amedisys, learning the industry from the inside out. In 2014, when the opportunity came to acquire Advantage Private Home Care, an Atlanta agency that had been serving families since 2005, he didn't hesitate. He knew what a good agency could be, and he knew what it meant to the families who depended on it.

More than a decade later, Advantage serves families across 35 counties in Metro Atlanta. The company has earned Best of awards in six communities in 2025 alone. But Daniel will tell you that the measure that matters most isn't an award, it's the family who calls on a Friday afternoon with an emergency and gets someone on the phone, or the client who has had the same caregiver for two years and considers them a friend.

That's the kind of agency he set out to build. And it's the kind of agency Advantage is. What made you start thinking about home care for your family? We'd love to hear your story.

Many Metro Atlanta families have a Long-Term Care Insurance policy sitting in a filing cabinet somewhere. They paid premiums for years. But when it's time actually to use the benefit, the process can feel overwhelming. Here's what you actually need to know.

Most LTC policies do cover in-home care, including services provided by a CNA. Coverage typically begins once a physician certifies that your loved one needs assistance with two or more Activities of Daily Living (such as bathing, dressing, or mobility). There's usually an "elimination period" (think of it as a deductible measured in days rather than dollars) before the benefit kicks in, and policies set a daily or monthly maximum for what they'll reimburse.

Where Advantage comes in: we accept Long-Term Care Insurance as a form of payment, and we've helped many Atlanta families navigate the paperwork, coordinate with their insurer, and get care started quickly. Our team can walk you through the typical documentation and the questions to ask your insurance company before your first call.

The benefit is there for a reason. If you have a policy for yourself or a parent, it's worth understanding what it covers before you need it urgently. Have you or your family ever looked into what your Long-Term Care Insurance actually covers? What did you find?

When you start looking for in-home care for a parent or loved one in the Sandy Springs and North Atlanta area, the number of agencies that come up can feel overwhelming. And most of them will use similar language: compassionate care, experienced caregivers, personalized service. So how do you actually tell the difference?

These questions matter because the answers determine what actually happens in the home, not just what gets promised during the initial call. At Advantage, our caregivers are W-2 employees who are state-verified CNAs, and an RN supervises every care plan on staff. We have been doing this in Metro Atlanta since 2005.

For seniors, and especially for those with memory care needs, continuity is not just a preference. It is part of the care itself. A caregiver who knows how someone takes their coffee, which chair they prefer, and that they need a little extra time in the morning is providing something that cannot be replicated by a different person each visit. That accumulated knowledge builds trust and supports routine, both of which contribute meaningfully to quality of life.

Caregiver continuity is one of the most direct benefits of the W-2 staffing model. When caregivers are employed rather than contracted, they have a greater incentive to stay with the agency and their assigned clients. The industry-wide caregiver turnover rate is estimated at 79% annually. At Advantage, retaining our caregivers is a priority we consistently work on because we know what it means on the receiving end.

If you have questions about how Advantage approaches caregiver consistency and what continuity looks like in practice, we are glad to talk through it. Call 404-312-6423 or visit advantageprivatehomecare.com.

When you think about having a caregiver in your home or a family member's home, how important would it be to see the same person regularly rather than a rotating schedule of different caregivers?

When a family member enters hospice care, the focus shifts from treatment to comfort. For many families, one of the clearest expressions of that goal is being able to stay home, surrounded by familiar things and the people who know them best.

Hospice services provided through a hospice agency focus on medical and pain management. What they often do not include is the day-to-day personal care that keeps someone comfortable between those visits: help with bathing and hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, repositioning for bedridden patients, and companionship during long hours that can be exhausting for family caregivers to carry alone. That is where in-home CNA care fits.

Advantage Private Home Care works alongside hospice agencies to provide that personal care layer. Our caregivers are state-verified CNAs supervised by an RN and experienced in working with clients and families navigating this stage of life. The tone of care in this setting is quieter and more attentive, and it requires people who show up with genuine warmth.

If your family is in this situation and you have questions about how in-home support works alongside hospice, we are glad to talk through it with you. Call 404-312-6423 or visit advantageprivatehomecare.com at any time, including after hours.

If you have been through this experience with a family member, what kind of support made the most difference during that time?

Memorial Day weekend is one of the most common moments when adult children, living in a different city or just busier than usual, see their parents after a gap of several weeks or months. What they notice in those first hours often prompts quietly overdue conversations.

A refrigerator that isn't well-stocked. Dishes left in the sink for longer than usual. A prescription bottle that's been sitting in the same spot for weeks. These details are easy to overlook from a distance but hard to miss when you are there in person. They are not always signs of a crisis, but they are often signs that daily life requires more effort than it used to.

If this weekend's visit raises questions about whether your parent could use more support at home, you don't need to have the entire conversation figured out before you make a call. Advantage Private Home Care works with families across Metro Atlanta who are at exactly that point, not sure yet what they need, but ready to understand their options. Our care coordinators can walk you through what in-home care looks like and what the process of getting started actually involves.

There is no pressure and no obligation in that first conversation. Call 404-312-6423 or visit advantageprivatehomecare.com to get in touch.

If you visited a parent or loved one recently, was there anything that gave you pause about how they were managing on their own?
