Advantage Private Home Care was founded in 2005 by Carolyn Mattingly, who built it from the ground up over nearly a decade. When Daniel Levy acquired the company at the end of 2014, he brought something not every owner in this industry has: personal experience on the other side of caregiving.

At 19, Daniel suffered a serious injury that required extended professional support and recovery. That experience gave him a direct understanding of what it feels like to depend on someone else for help, and how much the quality and consistency of that care matters when you're the one who needs it.

That's part of why Advantage operates the way it does. W-2 employees instead of contractors. State-verified CNAs instead of unvetted workers. RN oversight of every care plan. A team of patient care coordinators available around the clock. These aren't selling points; they're decisions that reflect a genuine belief in what professional home care should look like.

Twenty years later, Advantage serves families across 35 counties in Metro Atlanta, and that foundation hasn't changed.

Many families who are paying for in-home care out of pocket don't realize that a Long-Term Care Insurance policy may already cover a significant portion of the cost.

Long-Term Care Insurance, often called LTC Insurance, is designed specifically for situations such as private-duty in-home care. Policies vary, but most cover services such as personal care, companionship, memory-care support, and assistance with daily activities. Some policies also cover care coordination and RN oversight, which are part of how Advantage operates.

The challenge is that activating an LTC benefit isn't always straightforward. Policies have different elimination periods, benefit triggers, and documentation requirements. Families often don't know where to start, and the policy may go unused while they write a check each month.

Advantage is a Long-Term Care Insurance provider, and we help families understand their coverage and navigate the claims process. If your family has an LTC policy and isn't sure whether in-home care qualifies, that's exactly the kind of question we're here to answer.

Summer is one of the most important times of year for adult children to pay close attention. When families gather and visit aging parents, they often notice things that don't show up in a phone call.

A refrigerator with expired food. A pile of unopened mail. A parent who seems slower getting up from a chair, or who mentions falling but downplays it. Confusion about medications or appointments. A home that used to be tidy and isn't anymore.

None of these things on their own are necessarily cause for alarm. But a combination of changes, especially ones that are new since the last visit, is worth a real conversation.

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and it's a moment worth pausing on.

Elder abuse is more common than most families expect, and it doesn't always look the way people imagine. It can take the form of neglect, financial exploitation, emotional manipulation, or physical harm. It can happen in institutional settings, but it also happens in homes, sometimes at the hands of people the family trusts.

Some warning signs to keep in mind: unexplained injuries or weight loss, sudden changes in mood or behavior, unusual financial activity, a caregiver who answers for the client and discourages one-on-one time, or a senior who seems afraid to speak freely.

At Advantage, our caregivers are state-verified CNAs, W-2 employees with background checks, and work under the direct oversight of our RN supervisor. Families have online access to schedules, and our care coordinators stay in regular contact. Accountability isn't an afterthought here; it's built into how we operate.
