Home Care Assistance Atlanta is happy to present Monica Walker with the accolade of caregiver of the month for February of 2019.
Monica is reliable, compassionate, and professional. She was inspired to be a caregiver by her mother whom she witnessed helping the elderly, not as a formal job, but because her mother wanted to. Monica saw how the elderly and differently abled responded to her mother. She knew that caregiving was the field she wanted to work in and has been a CNA since 2008. What Monica finds the most rewarding about caregiving is being able to help those who cannot help themselves live with dignity. This amazing caregiver chose to work with Home Care Assistance due to the respect and affirmation received from the office team. Additionally Monica has been able to work with clients whom she knows changed her life. The February caregiver of the month exemplifies the fact that the best caregivers have love for the work they do and balance caring for themselves as well. Monica loves her work, but knows it can be stressful, so she treats herself to foot, neck, and back massages to keep her refreshed. For new caregivers Monica suggests showing love on a daily basis, placing yourself in your client’s shoes, and being kind even when it’s hard. She especially wants new caregivers to know that deep empathy and compassion in the caregiving field is slow to develop so just stay persistent. Lastly, we asked Monica what her greatest accomplishment was and she responded with the fact that she is an aunt. Her goal is to leave the earth better than she found it and she feels she does that through leaving her legacy with her nieces and nephews. We are lucky to have such an exemplary caregiver working at Home Care Assistance Atlanta.
