At a time when health care and workforce costs are increasing rapidly, the cost-of-living adjustment owed to Maine’s community health centers is essential to protecting access to care and ensuring rural and underserved Mainers can continue to receive high-quality primary care in the communities where they live and work.

The state health department said there was no funding appropriated for this year's adjustment.

Six pillars. One essential workforce.

This National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the CHWs who are essential to Maine’s Community Health Centers and the communities they serve.

CHWs build trust, break down barriers, connect people to care and resources, and bring the voice of the community into health care.

This week, we're celebrating National Community Health Worker Awareness Week 🎉

Created and led by NACHW since 2023, this week is dedicated to celebrating and collaborating with Community Health Workers (CHWs) and their allies across the country, and to raising awareness of the incredible diversity of the CHW profession, workforce, and movement.

At MPCA, we're proud to stand alongside the CHWs across Maine who serve as trusted messengers, connectors, and advocates, bridging the gap between healthcare systems and the communities they serve. Their work builds trust, breaks down barriers to care, and strengthens health care from the ground up.

Join us in recognizing the CHWs who make a difference every day!
