SMRT: Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique

SMRT is a positional release modality that interrupts pain signals in the body, painlessly resolves trigger points, has an incredibly calming effect on the nervous system, and is highly stimulating to the lymphatic system. By working with all tissues in any given area, SMRT easily and quickly allows the tissues to balance and the joints to realign effort

lessly, re-establishing correct posture. Benefits of SMRT include:
• natural realignment of joints by directly releasing specific ligaments and joint structures
• pain free resolution of trigger points
• swift and painless removal of adhesions
• disruption of the positive feedback loops of pain in the nervous system
• considerable stimulation of the lymphatic system

All of this is done quickly, with almost no pain to the client, and in a way that is tremendously easy on your body. Because we have disrupted the pain loops, settled the parasympathetic nervous system, created almost no additional pain, and brought the area back to homeostasis, the results of an SMRT treatment last. Join us for a hands-on class or study by video and learn to work quickly and effectively with SMRT.

Coeur d’Alene, ID CE class

September 18-20, 2026

Recent feedback for SMRT Hips, Lower Back, & Abdomen class: As a PT, I think every PT and MT should take this class. It completely changed how I will approach my patients going forward. SMRT works with the nervous system to produce quick, lasting results in a way I have not experienced in my 18 years in practice. I will be taking more classes. (May, 2026)

Tuition is $650 if you register by August 18, 2026 and $750 with registration after August 18, 2026.

I am making the slides for the livestream on the Dural Tube on Monday. Deep diving into connections and other details is fascinating. One thing I have learned in the process is that the dura mater has two layers inside the cranium, a periosteal layer and a meningeal layer. The periosteal layer is also called the endosteum or endosteal layer.

The endosteal layer of the dura begins and ends at attachments to the foramen magnum, where the prevertebral fascia (the fascia surrounding and investing the posterior and lateral neck muscles and attaching to all cervical vertebrae) attaches. These two lines of fascia blend together at the foramen magnum.

And, to add to that, the pericardium (the periosteum on the external aspect of the cranial bones) blends with the endosteum inside the sutures. And, and, and the anterior longitudinal ligament that attaches to the front of all vertebrae blends and fuses with the prevertebral fascia!

Working this on video in the livestream on Monday is going to be so much fun!
