KinQuest Genealogy Services

KinQuest Genealogy Services I have been researching my own family lines as well as other families for over 30 years. Many people are interested in finding out where they came from.

Whether or not the family stories they grew up with are true or factual. They want to document their past for entrance into a Society such as The Daughters of The American Revolution or The Mayflower Society. Or, they just want to preserve their heritage and ancestry for future generations. However, they don't have the time or an idea of where to begin. By analyzing any records, documents or photo

graphs you currently have and establishing a research plan for the ancestor you are searching for, a professional genealogist can help gain the information you are seeking. Unfortunately, due to fires, planned document destruction, as well as wars or changes in boundaries and time, there can be no guarantees that the documentation or records still exist today. The advantage of hiring a professional is that they have the knowledge and experience to know what to ask, where to look and how to find the information that you are seeking. Nothing can match the excitement of getting in touch with your personal history; the insight of knowing where you came from the discovery of your roots, and the sense of connection that it provides you and your family. You have only to take the first step in the discovery of your own personal history.

My next Scottish GENES Webinar will be "Using Scottish Kirk Session Records for Family History Research", on Saturday 25 July, 2026, at 7pm UK time. The following is its description:

"In this talk, genealogist Chris Paton will discuss the kirk session records compiled by presbyterian parishes across the country, which are mostly available to consult on ScotlandsPeople. Chris will explain what the kirk session was, how it fitted into the church courts hierarchy, and how the records presented can assist the genealogist. In addition to discussing how to access and use the records on ScotlandsPeople, Chris will also discuss the records not available online, and show how to locate the relevant volumes that may help with research. From antenuptial fornication and illegitimacy cases, to church census and vaccination records, the session will be called to order, and you are requested to 'compear' before it!"

Registration is just £10, and you can register at https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_q0GPJbRoQzqYyHjW0pBy_g - registrants will receive a detailed handout, and a copy of the presentation will be made available for a week after, for those unable to attend the live session.

I hope that you can join me!

You may find some people were registered under a different name than the one you expect. This could be for several reasons: e.g. they had a different name at birth, or their details were incorrectly recorded.

If you can’t find a person using their full name, try removing details. Remove initials and middle names, or leave the forename blank.
