As the air begins to cool, nothing quite beats the comfort of a warm crumble fresh from the oven. 🍐

This Pear and Ginger Crumble is a wonderful autumn recipe for older adults, rich in fibre, antioxidants, and warming anti-inflammatory spices that support digestive health and overall wellbeing.

Ingredients
🍐 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored and thickly sliced
🍐 1 tablespoon honey 🍐 1 teaspoon ground ginger
🍐 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 🍐 1 tablespoon lemon juice
🍐 1 cup rolled oats
🍐 1/2 cup plain flour or almond flour
🍐 3 tablespoons softened butter or coconut oil
🍐 2 tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup (for the crumble)
🍐 A pinch of salt

Instructions

✅ Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
✅ In a large bowl, gently toss the pear slices with honey, ginger, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
✅ Spread the pear mixture evenly into a lightly greased baking dish.
✅ In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, butter or coconut oil, honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.
✅ Mix together with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
✅ Scatter the crumble topping generously and evenly over the pears.
✅ Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the topping is golden and the pears are bubbling and tender.
✅ Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve warm, with a spoonful of low-fat vanilla yoghurt if desired. 🍂
