Honoring Indigenous Peoples Day 🌿
“May our practice extend beyond the mat, honoring the earth, respecting all beings, and uplifting the collective.”
Today, we honor the Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands for generations, whose cultures, traditions, and wisdom continue to shape our world.
As students of yoga, we are invited to consider how our practice extends beyond movement and into the way we live, connect, and contribute to the world around us.
The yogic principle of Ahimsa (non-harming) reminds us that compassion is not simply something we feel, but something we practice through our choices, relationships, and actions.
Satya (truthfulness) invites us to acknowledge history with honesty, while Asteya (non-stealing) encourages us to honor cultural origins, respect sacred traditions, and recognize the importance of preserving Indigenous knowledge.
To live our yoga is to move beyond awareness and into action.
To listen to Indigenous voices. To support Indigenous-led communities and businesses. To respect the land and advocate for its protection. To recognize that our individual well-being is deeply connected to the well-being of the collective.
At My Vinyasa Practice, we believe yoga is not just something we do. It is a way of participating in the world with greater consciousness, compassion, and responsibility.
May our practice be reflected in how we care for the earth, honor one another, and contribute to a more connected and compassionate world.
Today and every day. 🤎
