Certifications like CHST, CSP, and STSC are not just tests. They are proof that you can make the call when it counts, understand the risk in front of you, and lead with confidence.

That kind of confidence does not happen by accident. It comes from preparation. Our Exam prep workshops are built to help you sharpen what you already know, strengthen what you do not, and help you walk into your exam ready to earn it. No guesswork. No shortcuts. Just doing the work that pays off.

Grab your seat. Summer School is about to start!

Safety doesn’t move forward on its own, it moves when we do.

Join Chesapeake Region Safety Council in recognizing National Safety Month this June. Each week, we’re highlighting a new focus to help keep safety top of mind, wherever work happens.

Week 1: Moving Safety Forward

This week is all about being proactive, not reactive. It’s about building awareness, strengthening preparedness, and making sure your team is ready to act when it matters most.

It’s also National CPR and AED Awareness Week, a reminder that the right knowledge in the right moment can save a life.

💡 Start Week 1 strong:
✔️ Talk about emergency preparedness with your team
✔️ Promote CPR, AED, and first aid training
✔️ Share safety resources and real-world lessons
✔️ Explore new tools that help prevent serious incidents

Because moving safety forward starts with one step, and the decision to take it.

☀️ National Heat Awareness Day | May 29, 2026 ☀️

As temperatures rise, so do the risks for both outdoor and indoor workers exposed to heat.

National Heat Awareness Day, observed each year on the last Friday in May, was created by OSHA and the National Weather Service to promote smart planning and safer worksites.

Employers, is your heat safety plan ready?

Make sure it includes:

• Who is monitoring heat conditions each day
• How new and returning workers build heat tolerance
• Proper supervision for temporary workers
• First aid and emergency response procedures
• Heat-reducing tools and safe work practices
• How your team will respond to weather alerts
• Training for all workers on heat risks and response

A trained, designated person should review and adjust the plan as conditions change throughout the day. Preparation is what keeps small risks from becoming serious incidents.

Stay cool. Stay safe.

The campaign may be wrapping up, but the message is just as important next month as it is today.

Seat belts save lives every single day, not just during Click It or Ticket.

Don’t let the end of enforcement be the end of the habit. Buckle up every trip, every time.

Because the real goal isn’t avoiding a ticket, it’s making it home safe.

🎉 Friday Feature: Committed to the Craft

This week, we’re celebrating a group of professionals who continue to invest in their knowledge and lead by example:

Arnulfo Garcia – Earned his Advanced Safety Certificate (ASC), strengthening his ability to create safer, more effective workplaces.

Dawn Hopkins – Also achieved her Advanced Safety Certificate (ASC), showing a strong commitment to growth and leadership in safety.

Joel Casey Carwile – Added to his list of accomplishments with the Construction Safety & Health Specialist Certificate.

Tom Meighen – One of our very own instructors, Tom earned his Advanced Safety Certificate. A great reminder that even those who teach the field never stop learning.

Progress like this doesn’t happen by accident. It takes effort, intention, and a drive to make workplaces safer for everyone. If you’ve been thinking about advancing your own safety journey, this is your sign to take that next step. 👏

Join us in celebrating their hard work and dedication. Help us congratulate Arnulfo, Dawn, Joel, and Tom!

Our Annual Meeting & Safety Awards Ceremony isn’t just about recognizing great work, it’s about strengthening the skills behind it.

Some of the most important moments in safety don’t come from the work itself. They come from the conversations around it. Addressing a mistake early. Giving feedback that lands. Speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. These are the moments that shape outcomes long before an incident ever has the chance to.

That’s why this year’s featured session focuses on one of the most critical tools in safety: communication.

With 10+ years in leadership development and experience working with organizations from Fortune 500s to government teams, Kristy Shinn helps turn communication into a skill that drives performance.

Join us at the Annual Meeting and leave better prepared for the conversations that matter most.

The 13th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction starts today May 4th and runs until May 8th, 2026.

Every year, the numbers tell a story we’ve heard too many times.

In 2024, 389 construction workers lost their lives due to falls from elevation, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Out of 1,034 total construction fatalities, that’s not just a statistic, it’s a pattern. And it’s one we have the ability to change.

Those deaths were preventable.

That’s what the National Safety Stand-Down is all about. It’s a moment to pause the work and refocus on what matters most: getting everyone home safe.

A Safety Stand-Down doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be a quick toolbox talk, a discussion about fall hazards, a review of equipment, or a conversation about the risks your team faces every day. It’s about creating space for awareness, for questions, and for action.

And it’s not just for construction. Any workplace can take part. Safety doesn’t belong to one industry, it belongs to all of us.

So take the time. Start the conversation. Ask the questions that don’t always get asked.

Because prevention doesn’t happen by accident.
